Hello @Ironist and welcome to PriceScope!
Is this for a round brilliant, or some other shape of brilliant such as a cushion or princess?

If it's round, then it's a 60/60 style cut with angles that most here would consider out of bounds for ideal.
Best route for assuring it exhibits proper light return and performance is ask to see advanced images (ASET or Ideal-Scope).

Here is a fantastic guide for MRB cut proportions and angles.

Thank you @DejaWiz!

I am sorry - it is a round brilliant.

So a 60/60 has not such a good light return because of the larg(er) table, right? According to the guide (thank you) it is not a good diamond for an engagement ring. I am still wondering: Will I acutally see a difference between a "perfectly" cut 3x Excellent diamond and a "ok" cut 3x excellent diamond?

60/60 can have tremendous brilliance and high light return, but the angles and proportions have to be very complement for that to happen, which is why I highly recommend that you ask for ASET or Ideal-Scope images.

There is definitely a possibility that you can see a difference between a well proportioned Excellent and an OK proportioned Excellent, because the GIA range for Excellent is so very broad that it favors the cutters to make a diamond that retains carat weight but still manages to pop a GIA 3X in order to maximize price and profit.
The AGS Triple Zero (their best cut rating) would be a very strict set of proportions that you can stick to when looking at GIA 3X diamonds to give you the best chances of getting a diamond with the best performance. PriceScope has made that easier for folks with the article that article posted above.
