Need help with diamond purchase

Hello,

I am in the search for a diamond to purchase for an engagement ring and wanted to reach out to see if any of knowledgeable people on this forum could assist. I am glad that I found this forum as there is a wealth of knowledge and I have learned quite a lot in the few weeks I have been on here.

There is a local jeweler where I am (Atlanta) that has a ring/setting that my girlfriend likes. I want to purchase a diamond online and then utilize it the setting I will purchase locally. I have a budget for the diamond of approximately $6K. I want to a diamond that is at 1 carat or slightly above. Based on what I have ready on here, I prefer excellent cut, and then something in the VSI clarity, I color. I have read that AGS or GIA are the way to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you looking for a round brilliant diamond, or another shape?

Also is $6k for the setting and stone, or just the setting? It would be helpful to hear more about the setting your gf picked out...

You don't need VS1 clarity. eyeclean VS2 is more than good enough. I color is a good idea with your budget. And yes, you don't want excellent cut. You want ideal light return.

Ask gemologist to pick best one for you; and ask for eyeclean.
