I just bought a hearts on fire diamond with Gia cert on eBay for $3650.00 and just want to ask is it normal for a hearts on fire diamond to have a Gia cert because I know hearts on fire uses ags. Anyways I did some research and I found something online that said it can as long as it has the hearts on fire # on inscribed on diamond. So I asked the seller is the hearts on fire # inscribed on diamond and she said yes and the Gia # is also inscribed since it was graded by them. Please help and give me an idea if I made the right decision. Here's the specs for the diamond. I will appreciate any input. I just want to make sure I didn't over pay for the diamond and if everything I found online and what seller said was true. She said it will be express and insured mail to be so I should get it by Tuesday. I'm getting it appraised after I get the ring.
Thanks in advance!

I think you did fine - a "new" stone with these specs would run about 1K more and wouldn't include the setting. Have it looked at when you get it to make sure everything is as it should be, but I think you paid a fair amount for a high quality stone. jmho.

I honestly thought they were all AGS0 stones but it would not have gotten that with very good polish. However the specs are fine and GIA is fine as well. Should be a beautiful stone at a good price!

Something doesn't sound right. All HoF stones are graded by AGS lab 000 ideal. IIRC there are some very old HoF stones graded by GIA. Does this stone have the HoF logo inscribed on the girdle?

Thanks to everyone who responded to my help I appreciate all the input. I will get it appraised and looked at when I get the ring and let everyone know what the outcome is.

I did ask the seller if the hearts on fire logo and numbers are inscribed on diamond and she said she . The Gia cert also states that the hearts on fire and Gia numbers are all inscribed on diamond. So hopefully it checks out when I get it appraised when I get the ring. If not I'll get PayPal and eBay to open a case on it.

So no HoF logo?? Very suspicious!. I can have a Walmart diamond inscribed (hearts on fire with the GIA report #) ...it does not prove it's a HoF stone.

She said heartsonfire3501 is inscribed on diamond so is that the logo I'm looking for or something else.? The Gia report was done in August of this year. I found a online article regarding Gia cert hearts on fire diamonds so I look a gamble and bought it after reading this. I figure if it's not a true hearts on fire diamond it's still a very good diamond with the specs and Gia cert for the price.

I'd call HoF and give them the number and see what specs they can give you. If it matches the GIA report then there's probably no cause for concern.

Very interesting link. So the stone obviously was regraded by GIA. What was interesting to me is that this jeweler thinks AGS is soft on polish grading. We already know they can be soft on color grading on borderline stones. These two things together make a big impact on pricing. This is just interesting to those of us who participate here and see a lot of AGS and GIA stones.

It does sound like it is a HoF stone, so I think you did well!

Sounds like you did well. Please post an update once you get it looked at. Good luck!

AFAIK HoF stones are graded by AGS lab, so in this case HoF wouldn't have any record on the GIA report.

I think I finally figure out this whole hearts on fire with no ags cert is all about. When ags test the diamond for hearts on fire it's issued a ags report number but hearts on fire has their own serialized number system for each of their diamonds. So each hearts on fire diamond has the serialized number inscribed on the diamond and ags will provide a different report number to go with the diamond. My guess is since this is a preowned diamond the original owner probably misplaced the ags report so only the hearts on fire serialized number is left to identify it as a hearts on fire diamond. So I guess the seller who got the diamond decided to get it regrade by Gia so they can sell. I'm going to try to call hearts on fire to see if they can put up the ags report using the serialized number on the diamond or I'll try ags and see if they can. I hope I'm right on this or I just bought a regular diamond. Wish me luck guys

I just called hof and they did verify that this is a older hof diamond. She said she will be able to forward the message to a diamond expert to get the ags report number so I can reprint the report or go to a hof retailer and they can reorder the original ags report for about $50.00. I'll update more when I get the diamond appraised. Thanks again for everyone who responded to my post and for all the input

Great news! Looking forward to seeing how everything turns out. :wavey:

Re: New Update/Picture for Hearts on fire diamond with Gia c

I got my ring appraised today and everything checked out correctly so it was a real hearts on fire diamond with Gia cert. He took a look and said its a beautiful diamond and asked how much I paid and I said $3650 and then he said wholesale price is $3300 so he just couldn't believe the seller was selling it for that kind of price. Anyways he checked the ring out and then gave me the retail value of $7505 which I could believe how much I saved on this ring. So I want to thanked everyone for all the responses and input again and here's the picture of the ring. Sorry for the lighting it was late and the ring was too big to fit my ring finger so I will have to get it resized later
