I saw this on marketplace, lady lives within an hour of me. Let me know what you think- and if it's worth going to see. She's asking $700.

Pretty color. I don’t see if it says oil only or what treatments...

It doesn't say on the cert- and she says she has never treated it.

It's good! If I were you I'd get it and cert it myself with GIA.

It sounds likes good price to me? IDK though. Maybe peruse some vendor stock and compare?

No. Being honest here- too lazy. And CVB's cutter has some amazing Muzo color chatham rough. Obviously I'd rather have natural but if chatham is cheaper and mirrors color- it's a contender.

Yes, when I said it's good, I meant the price is good. The price from vendors for polymer filled emeralds is about the same as what you'd be paying for oil only. You should take a look at the stone in person to see if you are going to love it. Emeralds generally look more amazing on person than they do in pictures because cameras don't pick up the glow very well. But then, it'll depend on the look of the inclusions, too, which can be more or less noticeable in person.

It’s small, very included, no comment on treatment (presumed oiled). I don’t think it’s a great buy at $700. I think you could find better.

I would ask if there are surface reaching fractures along the table, and if the stone has any black inclusion.

The photo from Columbia shows it as very included, but I'd say from the colored photos it's moderately included. Maybe the bad photo was from before it was oiled? I suspect it looks better in person, and I would not call 7mm by 7mm a small stone.

Then again, I have to preface what I say with that I'm not very much into emeralds (much more into spinel and sapphire/ruby), even though I've seen a lot of them on PS and on vendor websites. Someone who's more picky about emeralds might have a different opinion from me entirely.

I'd be worried about the inclusions compromising structural integrity. If you aren't *needing* it to be natural, I'd really consider the chatham (even though we can't discuss in detail here), because it won't have the structure issues due to inclusions, and you'll know exactly what you are getting.

Are you sure you want to wait 6 months for the Chatham? :x2

Why not go see it if she’s that close? It’s hard to tell much from the pictures but it’s a pretty color. That would be a good ring size and shape to me. Emeralds can be sooo expensive if you must have clarity.

She's about an hour away- Just wanted to save myself a trip if this stone was an obvious dog. I do love the color!

I personally think its worth a visit! Make a little day trip and go thrifting/shopping and have some lunch!

I also like the color and while the clarity isnt great at all, I dont think that itd be an awful buy. I definitely would not call 1.6 cts small by any means either.
My 1.47 CT emerald feels plenty large on my fingers! & if its truly a Muzo Emmy that ups the value im sure.
For me when buying my emerald treatment was really important so thats my only hesitancy with this stone; if you love it id most definetely send it in for a report.

Its one of those purchases though, that at $700 you just gotta love it when you see it and hold it in hand.
If not, id say give it a pass!

Good luck!

Another vote for gotta see it. It’s clarity challenged, from the pictures but price could be good if they aren’t many /deep surface reaching on the crown, which you can’t tell until you get a closer look.

It looks like a real possibility to me! I wish it weren’t so hard to interpret pictures. Inclusions can add to the “glowiness”, so they’re not all bad, but others are right to say you don’t want a fragile piece with bad fracture lines. I don’t see that from your photo. It’s true that the color green is hard to photograph. The price seems reasonable based on knowing what we know so far. Good luck!
