I’ve been working on a very sentimental project. I’ll share more details in a SMTB post when it’s complete!

I bought a beautiful 1.01 carat fancy white diamond heart, and I want to set it in a pendant. I bought it from rarediamondltd on Etsy, and I had a great experience with them!

I already bought a chain, 14k yellow gold with 5x3mm handforged links. I haven’t received it yet so I won’t provide any review! But here’s what it looks like

I like this “attachment” I found on a single stone necklace, but I’m having trouble figuring out the mount. I want something simple and am debating adding a halo, I feel like a halo would add an interesting contrast?

Halo inspo ideas, I don’t think I want a full bezel. I would set it in 14k yellow gold. Am thinking of asking Maytal Hannah to get something hand forged

Was also considering a collet? But wasn’t sure if it would pop as much. I want this to also be an everyday wearable necklace

I thought a blackened collet would be too goth.

Any other ideas?

You could choose a different coloured enamel which will definitely make the white pop!

I love this style as I think it's less fussy but also gives the stone enough presence on the neck.

So excited to see what you'll end up with. Thanks for the recommendation as well. I checked them out and they have some nice things!

It’s a memento mori so this may be more appropriate. I wasn’t sure if enamel would be higher maintenance? This will be a “wear everyday” sorta piece to keep it close to my heart ♥️

I don’t think a black collet feels too goth - it actually comes across as pretty neutral, especially the way Jessica McCormack does it.

You could also add a small colored stone or a small dangle for extra flair.

Stupid here, what colour is "fancy white" please?

As for a pendant, this is my inspiration for a single stone in the middle; this pendant belongs to a PSer, however, I cannot remember the username, sorry!

DK :))

I like the collet, blackened or not. I don't know enough about blackened to know if that requires more upkeep. If it does, I probably wouldn't go that way for an everyday piece, just because I wouldn't want to deal with upkeep. But I'm lazy.

Didn’t even consider it but interesting idea…

Doesn't need to be coloured diamond melees, could be CSs, such as pink Sapphire, Tourmaline, Spinel or Garnet.

DK :))

That heart is amazing. Fancy white is just such a cool attribute to have in a stone.
The sheen.
I'm in the collet camp(which could still have a halo if you want), maybe you could incorporate a small birthstone, or their favorite color or a stone that represents a month of a significant memory?

Aww thank you. I think I’m leaning collet too - I think maybe an understated piece feels more appropriate and “quiet” in a way that I think is fitting

Incorporating black diamond or onyx would be very appropriate for a memento mori and also a nice contrast to white.

IMHO rose gold would be beautiful… are you decided on yellow?

A violet halo might be a pretty alternative.

Rose could be lovely - but I have already purchased a hand forged chain and tend to prefer yellow gold around my neck! I have rosy skin on my chest - I realize that rose is more flattering around my wrists or for earrings!

A collet is set it and forget it. It benefits from patina with the look. I think the styles above with the collet and toggle would be nice for daily wear. I have a pair of collet earrings and I have not worn them in years, but they still look great. They would likely look nicer with patina.

Not stupid, it threw me. I think you have colorless diamonds, then you have fancy yellow, fancy gray, fancy white, etc. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

What a fun project!

I love both of these designs but OBSESSED with this one (minus the huge gold bale). I personally try to either incorporate the bale into the design or hide it. (My avatar shows a hidden bale). Even this design done in black rhodium with double milgraining (no pave) would be amazing. This would enhance the fancy whiteness of your stone.

Are you team fixed or team slide on pendants? I personally prefer the pendant to slide on the chain. Deciding that may help narrow down the design direction.

I’m in the camp of fixed pendants! I know I’m in the minority there!

Yes exactly! Basically fancy whites have some amount of opacity - giving them a white (versus colorless appearance) because they have tons of tiny inclusions that give them a haze / or milkiness - they can’t be totally “clean” like other fancies because their “color” is due to light reflecting inclusions, I don’t know much about other fancies but I believe most presence of color in other fancies is due to chemical impurities like boron or nitrogen

There could be cases where fancy whites have other chemical impurities? Not sure tbh. I bet Leibish has a lot of good education on the different colors

Are your collets with blackened silver on top of gold?
