Came across this ring today and love it but wondering if it's worth the money. It is 5x7 hot pink in color in a 14kt setting. Seller is asking under $200. This is the only pic I have.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Sounds like a good deal but I would definitely want to see more pictures before buying it. Does the seller have good ratings?

If it were me:
If I saw pics that showed what color shift spinel normally has and I liked it
and I was sure it was not synthetic - and a clear shot didn't show too much facet abrasions - and I saw a hand shot to see head on the faceting pattern- and it was sizeable to my snausage finegers....I'd feel fine with paying that price.
Good luck!

Thanks for the quick replies! No handshots but excellent ratings and accepts returns in 14 days. This is the only other picture I have to go on.

I guess it would be a bit of a leap of faith, just wondering if it is worth considering the leap lol!

Forgot to post this before, this is another contender in 10kt, excellent reviews but only accepts returns if not as described. Description indicates the stones are hot pink in color. Two very different rings but I like them both.

I recommend you search the Ebay seller on Toolhaus for the first ring. They have quite a history. As for color- that color pink is common in synthetic spinel and a bit harder to find in natural spinel so keep that in mind.

Thanks Lisa, I think I'm going to forget rings and look at stones. If you have any tips for how to find a pretty spinel (mahenge or anything in the pink/purple family) let me know. I am a super newbie with colored stones.

Steph- what is the size and shape you are interested in and what is your budget?

I bought a purple to pink color change spinel from artcutgems a couple of months ago. I am very happy with it. You might want to check that website to look.

Open on size but nothing too big maybe two to three carats, I like a lot of precision cuts but I did find a cushion cut that looked promising.

Really like the brightness of a mahenge but I don't think the budget will allow, looking to spend around $500 for a stone.

Look over on loupetroop.com. There are a couple of pretty spinels for sale right now.
