Has anyone had/seen an indoor ceremony that wasn''t in a chapel or church? What was at the "alter"? ie: arches, swags, etc.

Here''s the original place we booked with the Italian type theme.

Since we may be having it somewhere else (country club), I still want this type of feel to it. Looks like we''re working from scratch in order to make this ballroom into a cute, italian/greek themed, ceremonial room. I will attach pictures of some ideas also.

These candle holders/stands and swags are very pretty

These are like the ones at Bella.

Alright, so I''m about 95% sure we''re switching to the country club as our venue. If I can create our ceremony the way I want, then it really is the best decision we could make. We will definitely get more for the money there. They''ve already thrown in some things to be included in our original quote: chair covers, cake cutting, etc. FI is compromising with some things I want now that I''ve given in to the change. I really want those chairs above, but they''re expensive to rent.

I never got any suggestions, but maybe that''s because I''m sure about what I want and you all thought it looked pretty good? haha

I feel much better about this switch than I did earlier this week

it is hard to know what to suggest since we''re not sure what the space at the new venue looks like. if it is a rather plain room, i would suggest a few things to get the look of the villa-type setting you posted above. there seem to be some elements in the pictures above that you could evoke without going too crazy. tulle itself is fairly cheap and easy, but you need something to hang it from. you could also look into renting some trees, probably ficus -- I think adding the green element to the room would give it more of that feeling of the villa. they come lit or unlit. another way to give that feeling might be to get silk ivy or other silk vines and work them in with the tulle. you might also want to look for a few stone-look pieces, maybe some urns, to give that mediterranean feel. unless the chairs are going to be used for both the ceremony and reception (which seems unlikely if they are in 2 separate spaces), I wouldn''t bother with the Chiavari chairs just for the ceremony, esp. if chair covers are included. People will only be in the chairs for the ceremony for a short time, and the focus will be on you and your groom, not the chairs.

I will take some pictures of the room tomorrow night when we go check it out again.

The slip covers are for the chairs in the large ballroom where the reception will be held. I wouldn''t want the same look in the room where the ceremony will be. True what you say about the Chiavari chairs, but oh how I love them. I feel they add so much.

they do add a lot, but i guess i''d rather have them in the room where people will be for a few hours than for around 30 min. i think they make even more of an impression at a table than set up in rows, but that''s just my opinion. i would think you could switch the covered chairs into the ceremony room and do the chiavari in the main ballroom -- at the end of the day it''s about the same # of chairs, and I think using them at the reception gets you more bang for your buck.
i''m looking forward to seeing what the room looks like. i hope we can help you find a way to give it the look you want!
