Dear PSers! I’m a bit new at this forum, and a complete newbie in diamonds. I’ve got simple diamond studs (0.85 tcw with jackets) some time ago that set in WG illusion/buttercup setting. But I’m feeling that there is too much white metal showing for my taste, especially from the front view (like studs protruding sideways). I absolutely love YG buttercup settings, but not accustomed much to wearing WG (I’m a redhead and mostly had YG). The jeweler also brought me 0.83 tcw studs in 6 prongs scalloped martini setting (not sure about exact name) with jackets to try on.
Another story is diamonds. Diamonds set in my illusion setting studs (G/VVS2) have HCA scores 2.6 and between 1 and 2 (don’t remember correctly), and GIA triple X/ AGS Ideal on diamondscreener. The new 6-prongs studs (J/VVS1-2) are GIA triple X/ AGS Ex on diamonscreener, and have large table (62%) and not good crown/pavilion angle combo (33%/41.6%). It sounds silly but I couldn’t tell much difference between them in direct comparison, maybe the latter have a slightly less fire and scintillation (but it almost indiscernible). I can see a slight difference in color G vs J but also not much. But I’m a novice so couldn’t really see the difference.
I need to choose between these two studs so I’ve decided to ask your help and advice, which type of studs looks better on me and does stones difference really matter in my case?
I’m not able to get studs from PS preferred vendors because I’m living in Myanmar and here is problems with buying from US or other countries.
