Just wondering, have many of you bought your dress second hand, online? I''m seriously considering a dress I found on craigslist. It''s my size and I believe the price is good. I am not sure how much the actual gown costs, but I believe it''s between 3-5K. I cannot afford to spend that money, and luckily, I found that very gown (on craigslist) I''ve been eying is being sold in my size! She listed it for less than 2K. My question is, is it possible to negotiate? Or more importantly, do they price a tiny bit higher expecting the buyer to negogotiate? I''m thinking I''ll ask her if she can lower it by a few hundred. Do you guys have the experience, tips on negotiating? I.E. Did you bother negotiating, if you did, what percent did you knock off....

I don''t know specifically about dress buying, but I''ve negotiated prices on cl before for things that weren''t already at the bare minimum ($5 for a box of frames, stuff like that). You can always email the seller and make an offer. If she rejects it, you can still offer to pay full price.

I think it never hurts to ask! I know everything I have bought or sold on CL there has been some negotation room.

My biggest caution about a secondhand dress would be to ask how it has been altered - even if it is your size there''s the possibility that it could have been altered too small for you in one area or another. Good luck!

absolutely! have you looked for the dress on preownedweddingdresses.com (i think thats it)...if the same dress is there, you might get an idea of its original cost.

You should take a look on other websites and see what other used dresses by the same designer in the same condition are going for. If what she''s offered is a fair price considering the going rate, then I would just pay the lady and enjoy your dream dress for a great price!

If the price seems a little high, then there''s no harm in trying to negotiate and pointing to the price of comparable dresses will certainly help with that.

I''ve negotiated on classified before, it really never hurts as long as you do it politely!
