Hello! Thanks again to this fabulous forum that has helped me over years and years of lurkdom

I wanted to show my new studs - they are from Blue Nile, .70 ctw, J SI2 GIA EX/EX/EX. I upgraded from some delicate beauties, WF .25 ctw, as I am now older and convinced myself that I deserve it! :wink2:

I had the hardest time finding a side profile of their bezel setting, so I am hoping this might help others. They have two bezel settings on their website, one is a "bezel cup" and the other one which I got, which is just called "bezel". They weren't able to send me any additional photos of the setting so I took a leap and just ordered them, not sure how bulky they would be. But I love the setting, it is very thin and delicate. I totally love them and they are very happy on my earlobes.

But my question is this... I am petite and not a very flashy person. I got engaged last year and received a beautiful 1.0 ctw 5-stone ring (graduated with a .3 in the center) that I helped in choosing - it is exactly what I want and every single day I admire it and think it is the most beautiful thing in the world! I will not ever upgrade/change it. So do you think the earrings at .7 ctw out-bling the ring, as each earring is larger than my "center" stone?

I am considering returning them and getting .5ctw instead. My wonderful fiance likes them and thinks I should keep them...however his first reaction was to hold my ring finger up to my ear and say "These look bigger than your ring!!"

Anyway long story short, I love the .7 earrings, I love my 1.0 ring, but now am worried that the studs are too big. I also think it might be silly to exchange them for smaller ones and then in a few years wish that they were bigger again.

Opinions??

Here is an ear shot with my .25ctw in the second hole.

And a photo of my indecisive face.

They are lovely!

Ok, take this with a grain of salt cause this is coming from a size whore. Until you're at about 2 carats per earring, it's not gonna be too big, IMHO. I just got 1.1 and 1.2 carats, and I thought they were a little over "big enough". But, after just 2 months, I am certain 1.5-2 carats per ear would just be fine. I love my studs, don't get me wrong. And the size is great cause I can see them clearly. But for that impact that I would love to have, I'd want to go up to 1.5 each, at least. I guess my point is that the eye gets used to diamonds very quickly. Or maybe I'm just very DSS prone... ;)

And this is irrespective of your e-ring. I completely look at them separately. I have no problem dissociating them. I think sizable studs would look great with just a band, even no ering.

So I'm with your fiance. I would keep the 0.7s. :) Definitely not flashy either.

They look gorgeous on you! I love them with your smaller studs. I vote to keep them. I don't think you have to follow rules when it comes to rings and earrings. I wear a 1.11 EC that's a K, but sprang for BGD Signature H MRB 1.00ctw studs. So although my EC is larger it's a much lower color. I love all sizes and colors and no-one has ever said my studs out did my ring :))

They are a wonderful size and the total weight is less than your ring. I think they are perfect and would not change them!

OK that was easy, I'll keep them!
I should have known nobody here would try to convince me to go smaller! Crazy talk! Thanks for the validation though, ladies. I know they are small compared to many others here, but to me they do feel huge!

I think they are a terrific size, especially for younger women. My older daughter is 28 and she has stones around .30 cts. each and she is not remotely interested in larger. I hope by the time she inherits some of mine, she'll be willing to wear larger diamonds! But seriously, I would tell you if I thought the proportions were wrong with your ring. When someone asks something like that, I am always honest when there is a return period! ;))

I am another size whore - these look absolutely perfect on you, you just need to get used to them that is all!!!!

These are perfect, I would not change a thing, keep them!

Those earrings look beautiful on you, and the size is just right !!!
Wear them for awhile and you will see that they are perfect :sun:

In terms of the earrings with your ring, all "I" think when I see them together is:
"Lucky Girl !!!!!"

I also vote that you keep them! They look beautiful! I have a pear cur engagement ring that is 1.02 carats. For my big birthday 2 weeks ago (40th  ) my husband had bought me new studs & pendant to replace my existing set, although I have kept my originals too as they are very sentimental. My studs have increased from .33 points each to .50 points each, which is fairly subtle, but my pendant has increased from .40 points to .75 points! It felt absolutely MASSIVE! It also felt weird having a pendant that was almost as big as my engagement ring? But 2 weeks on & I have fully adjusted. The sizes are perfect on me. And shame on me also for not getting around to posting them yet!

They look just lovely! :appl: :appl: Keep 'em!

Just adding to the chorus here as I agree. Perfect size and they look terrific on you! Glad you decided to keep them! Wear in health and happiness! :appl:

They look perfect on you. Definitely keep them. I would love to see some closer pictures of your engagement ring. It looks beautiful as well.

HI:

Size is perfect! They look lovely and elegant.

cheers--Sharon

Thank you all so much for the encouragement!!

And happy to oblige with more of my engagement ring... It's the Whiteflash 5-stone trellis setting, and is incredible, especially in the sunlight! The stones are .15/.2/.3/.2/.15, the center is certed and is an ACA I VS2, the others are ACA melee. Some people were surprised to see a band as my engagement ring, but I stand strong behind my decision! My wedding is in two weeks (!) and I chose a plain 2mm yellow gold band to go with it.

Your new studs are gorgeous!!! I am so glad you decided to keep them. They are also perfect in combination with your engagement ring. Your ring has quite some impact and is strong and blingy enough to stand against your lovely studs.
Enjoy wearing them!

Your ring is gorgeous and I love the idea of the plain band with it! As for the earrings, shrinkage will set in and you will be happy you kept the larger ones!

Your ring is gorgeous. I think you made a great choice. It definitely can stand on it's own. I hope you have a very special wedding day. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and your new earrings. Thanks for the pictures, I love to look at bling.

Your ring is gorgeous and your studs look great.

Keepers.

And, I just love the idea of a five-stone worn with a yellow gold band. Elegance is!

Definitely keep them, they look great next to your smaller studs :sun:

Can I be a pain in the neck and make an impossible request...?? :?

Would you be able / kind enough to take a photo of their side profile when in the ear, to illustrate how far off the earlobe they sit? :?

I am just trying to decide on possible earring purchases for the other half and am trying to find pictures to show low profile settings!

No worries if not, I appreciate it will very probably be a complete hassle to take a photo like that lol

Ha - it was a little tricky but my pleasure! I twisted my ear a little to get this photo, but normally the earrings sit very flat, like a button. You can see the bezel edge but none of the post or little supporting arms (technical term!). I don't think it would be possible to make it any lower profile! I have been sleeping in them and they are super comfortable, especially compared to my small studs in a basket setting that irritated me when sleeping.

Your ring is so elegant! I love it  A YG wedding band will be gorgeous with it!

Wow. I love your ring and earrings - gorgeous, classic set.

Yes!

Your earrings and e-ring are both gorgeous! And I definitely wouldn't change them out! As someone else said, the total weight is still less than the total of your ring so you're good. AND, even more importantly: they look GREAT on your ears! (And I absolutely love them with the other earrings in the second hole!)

Apologies, I've just seen this post - I have been busy with other things so forgot I'd asked the question!

Thank you very much for the picture :)) They do look very low profile!

I think I will add them to the 'possibles' list for the other half - now I just need to find some stones and then find some money to pay for them... lol

You're welcome OoohShiny! That whole money part is the only down side ;)

I'm also happy to share with everyone that these studs have only left my ears for cleaning since I've gotten them, and now feel very natural when I see them in my ears. I'm happy I didn't downsize them! Thanks for the votes of confidence, guys!

Excellent stuff!

We all knew it would work out in the end ;) :naughty:
