New amber ring

This last week I was traveling for work and happened to be in Juneau. Since it''s not quite tourist season only a few stores were open and one of them happened to be a Russian store with a ton of amber. I didn''t mean to buy anything, it just happened!

Does anyone have words of advice about caring for amber? I don''t want to ruin this beauty.

Iit is lovely, I love the setting and the shape of it. So sleek and modern looking. Amber is one of those cool stones that I just enjoy looking at for the inclusions. I like how the light hits off the inclusions in them.

amazing piece...

I love oversized amber rings - I have one in the yellow opaque amber and it is pretty soft - these rings do need extra care to avoid hard knocks

(in fact I need to get mine re polished as it has a little tiny chunk missing from a bang)

that said as amber is supposed to be included often scratches and little bumps don''t show up too bad

and keep it away from heat and solvents. turpentine, mineral spirits, alcohol, ether(my fave), acetone (nail polish remover) MEK(methylethylketone) and of course ammonia!

Be gentle with the stone. Amber is very soft. It won''t take much of a beating.
