New and potentially paranoid

I''ve been lurking on price scope for a few weeks now...trying to educate myself, so I can educate my boyfriend.

A little background....we''ve been dating about 2 1/2 years now and about a month ago he asked what kind of ring I''d want. He''s mentioned it several times since and we even went ring shopping to see what I liked last weekend. He plans on buying from a store owned by a friend of a friend located out of state.

I''ve also made him promise to make it a surprise. Once he''s said it wouldn''t happen until the end of the year....but more comments have led me to believe it''ll at least be in the 6 months.

Sneaky me looked at his text messages and found one to that friend asking him to schedule an appoint with the jeweler tonight! However, he was supposed to fly out last night and BOTH flights got cancelled...due to mechanical problems....one was scheduled for afternoon and once cancelled he got on the night one, which got cancelled too. So he''s not going.

Perhpas this is just me being paranoid, but is this like "cosmic" bad luck?

I know I shouldn''t be too bummed, he is going next week....but still. I tend to get worried about "jinxing" myself....I even contemplate this post jinxing me as I type it...lol.

Now, on the business of your post

You've told him what ring you want, you've told him you want the proposal to be a surprise, and he is doing what you told him to, so let him do his thing, and surprise you! I don't know your whole story, but it seems you're in a situation that most ladies on this board would love to be in -- your bf has expressed that he wants to marry you and is already working with a jeweler on your ring. My advice is to stop snooping, and enjoy this time!

Don't worry about the cosmic bad luck, lol. Flights get cancelled often because of all sorts of problems, for all sorts of reasons. Besides, if it is bad luck, there is absolutely nothing you can do about it, so there's no use in worrying. Sit back, relax, and let him work!

As far as your story... Sounds quite promising!! And he really seems to understand you well enough to try the secretive stuff...even though you were a step ahead. hehe

With the cosmic stuff... I think this applies sometimes - but not in your case. Everything happens for a reason and maybe it happened this way because you knew about it and it should be a SECRET. hehe Now you''ll learn not to spy. (even though most of us do it!! hehe)

I would not worry about a cosmic jinx at all! If I thought of cosmic jinx''s in terms of flights, I''d be convinced I was doomed. Half the time I fly there''s a delay or a grounded flight or a blizzard back home preventing me from returning (which I did NOT complain about when I found myself stuck in Jamaica because of a blizzard in Boston).

Be excited! It sounds like you are going to have your emerald cut soon enough!!!!

If BOTH flights were cancelled then it was most likely weather and I personally would feel better waiting a week knowing my boyfriend would be flying safely than worried about it being a bad omen.

He''s going next week, and there are already signs that he''s starting to ring shop! Judging by your name, I assume it''s going to be an Emerald Cut, so have some patience - the right one can be very difficult to find.

This is an exciting time - enjoy it and remember everything you can - maybe start a journal or something. Before you know it, you''ll be engaged, and you''ll be happy to remember the details!
