New graduated white Edison strand!

I recently purchased a strand of white Edison pearls from Pearl Paradise. In my collection of colorful baroques, these pearls are unique and I find myself reaching for them often!

The strand is graduated, 17" long, and the pearl sizes range from 9.2mm to 12.2mm.

That is key, I've found, to maximizing enjoyment of my pearls. I try not to buy the same sort of thing over and over. It makes for a more compact collection that actually gets worn.
The necklace looks fantastic!

Thanks, baby monster! I'm happy with the size; they're not too big or too small.

I don't find them heavy at all but I'm also not the least bit sensitive to weight around my neck.

Thank you, ckrickett! I mentioned elsewhere that I usually buy 18" strands but really like the classic look of shorter strands so decided to go with 17" this time. It's a little closer to the neck but still long enough for a lower neckline. And I saved the extra pearls in case I want it lengthened or decide to get matching earrings.

As I mentioned on the other pearl site, I'm lusting after these. I had contemplated this strand, and then ordered Sheri's Screamers instead. Unfortunately, Sheri's Screamers weren't me, and I sent them back. Now, I'm kicking myself that I didn't get the Edison's instead. They are absolutely gorgeous on you. Well, I know what I'm going to start looking for next. Thanks!

I don't know a whole lot about pearls. What are Edison Pearls?

Queenie, Edison pearls refer to large, high quality freshwater pearls resulting from in-body bead nucleation. That is, the bead is placed among the organs (maybe actually in the gonad, I'm not sure), rather than in the mantle tissue (as is done in the case of mantle tissue-nucleated freshwaters.)

The name "Edison" refers specifically to the pearls produced by the Grace Pearl company but it seems that people have begun using it more generically, along with the name "Ming" pearls.

Might be interesting (if you have enough) to do a slightly longer tin cup to go with this strand (similar to what Bsolmo did with her hanadamas)
