New Green Garnet Rin

Garnets, I used to hate them because the only ones I knew about were the dark, opaque red ones you see in the mall. Then I saw how nice they looked when they were good stones. Now they are among my favorite gemstones.

Recently I stumbled across some meralani mint garnets so ordered an oval to see if I liked it enough for a ring and I did. I have a ring enhancer I wear with a diamond solitaire as a RHR and thought I could get the garnet mounted in a solitaire to go with the enhancer. I should have gone to the store where I bought that ring from to get the garnet mounted but tried someone else and ended up paying for a custom ring instead of a basic tiffany style solitaire mount so it cost me more than expected but I do like it. One problem is the enhancer is more for RB, PC or trillion stones so the oval is a bit off center if you look at it from one side. I probably could have found a 3 stone semi mount for about the same price but didn’t think of that before.

The stone isn’t perfect it has some bowtie effects and some zoning but it is quite lively and I love the color. I ordered some trillions last night have made in to studs and a pendant.

Thanks FrekeChild. All I know is that it is at least .70 ct and 6.5 x 4.5 mm. I ordered some trillions for earrings and a pendant.
