Help me please. I am going nutts! And to know I almost posted a photoshop request...the night before Irina left. Whoa is me. Thanks for any insight or opinion you might offer.

I have this idea, design in my head. I had contacted three of the favorite designers...and although they are eager to take project, without a drawing, not sure anyone understands the simplicity of my vision.

Looking through LM site tonight...I saw it! He is the Master, bar none. His design is fully loaded of course...what I want is a stripper model/just metal. So you have to squint to get past all the beauty of his work. I don''t know how to post an image from his site, but the style is R864/Ring Solitaire 423. This image shows pave everywhere. And sort of a cascade or swoop style to the basket. And although it is breathtaking the way it is, I just want non pave non swoop. To be worn with a shared prong eternity.

Cliff notes: I hope to achieve a simple basket head with dual claw prong tips (4 prongs-8 tips). But the most important element is I want the basket to be shaped just like a martini glass or funnel. Stone set low...but the basket to run in the same degree as the pavillion as it makes it to the culet. And not much wider than the stone. A bottom open donut that is part of the shank, and then an upper donut that is slender and falls way short or below of the girdle. No cathedral sides or wings...just a round shank...and stacked donuts.

______ this line represents the table
__________ this line represents the girdle
----------- this line represents the upper donut of the basket head
--- this line represents the lower donut that the culet lowers into.

I know it looks similar to any other head. And I am sure it sounds like I am splitting hairs. For some reason this it the only thing my eye will be happy with. My stone is 2.11 RB at 8.37 mm. I think I want the shank narrow...2.2 or 2.5. Any input? Or do you want the chance to use my pumpkin as a pinata?

Hey DKS, I thought I''d put the ring you posted up for easy reference. Yowza!

Hope you don''t mind.

dKS, I don''t have photoshop so I can''t help you there. I guess, I''d try Leon first to see if he''d make that setting, no pave and tell him your other idea''s and see if he''d do it. the downside is you''d have to trust his artistic insight b/c he won''t show any pics of the process. the other thing I''d probably do is email the picture along with what you want changed to Mark t. he can do it cad/cam for you and you can a pefect although chunky image of what you are wanting. I think it would be a beautiful solitaire though and look incredible with an eternity band..

Red shoes...Thanks a whole bunch!!

How ever did you do that? Extremely appreciative!!

OH, and a friendly hello...and welcome!!!

, I have never noticed you before. Apparently...you are a great asset in our tool box! I am glad you are here!

Thanks MrsSalvo

Hey, DKS! I''m mostly hiding out in LIW because I don''t have my ring...yet. Sigh. I can tell you how I posted the picture (no trouble) if you like, but you can chalk it up to my summer break from teaching and having too much time to spend lurking around on PS! Love your design idea, and thanks for the warm welcome!

Well red shoes...what is your ring desire? Will/or were you included in the design? You can still talk about your ring here...even if you don't have it....so tell us what you want or are hoping for!

Yeah, if it is not too time consuming for you ...and still willing please share how you saved that copywritten image for me.

Thanks

DKS

I''m currently staring at the shelf where my ering has been stashed. I helped pick it out (there''s a photo in my thread on the LIW board) and my boyfriend is saving up all the surprise for the proposal. Thus, I''ve been waiting several weeks, more or less patiently. It''s a cushion from ERD in a lovely platinum setting with pave and surprise diamonds. Waiting stinks, so I enjoy passing my time checking out everybody else''s plans!

To put the pictures together for you, I dragged the images from LM''s site to my desktop. Then I pulled them both into a blank document in the program Pages (like Word for the Apple), dragged them to resize and keep the LM imprint in place. Then (and this is the part where I''m not sure how to translate for a PC) I took a screenshot of the pictures and saved it as a gif. Voila! I''m no good with Photoshop, but let me know if I can help with anything else. For all my boyfriend''s infuriating patience, he''s a whiz at Photoshop and enjoys noodling around with the little projects I give him.

Youv''e got talents...Red Shoes...I bet if you apply yourself the same way you did for my photo...I bet you can get that ring sooner than his plans!

Heading over to see your blingalicious now! Thanks again!

DKS

DKS, can you post photos of your ring as it is now? I dont think I''ve ever seen it. Your screen name is peaking my curiosity!

My pleasure. Really, I need things to do so I don''t bite off my fingernails worrying about moving and everything else! Thanks so much for your kind comments. I wrote a little more over there about the anticipated proposal, too.

Ditto Surfgirl about pictures of your stone! Do I remember correctly that it''s not currently set?

Surfgirl...there is no ring (it was just a 6 prong stock solitaire)...I just wrote a short (with me you know there is nothing short*) story about the remount in shopping forum on a post about what did you buy, hate, then replace?

The name derived from the size of the stone my boyfriend described...when asked, "What size stone do you want to give her?" He said he didn't know carrots from carats...but he wanted a "Door Knob".

hence....DKS

Ok, this took for ever hahaha but it was SO fun....your not gonna hurt my feelings as it is probably way of reality hehehe

OH pretty one! How talented are you?
36.gif
I am most grateful for the time put into that! Looks like the board has another photoshop guru! Slippery slope my friend....you are now a wanted and hunted commodity!

Everything is ring on money
36.gif
...except the middle donut...I was hoping to make it smaller and follow the narrowing of the pavillion...If it were a basketball hoop, the ball would get stuck before the donut as it is narrowing down along to meet the culet. So to the prongs would follow. Geeze this is so hard to describe in words.

Like the aspect we all love about the Tiffany repro. It makes the diamond look as if it is center stage. The head is shaped just like the diamond is shaped. Funnel like.

Thanks again,

pretty one...you did a fabulous job!

Yeah that is the ticket. Upper ring (donut) though..I want to fall below the girdle...the prongs will also start below the girdle. All prongs are straight angles ahhh no curves... shaped like a V...

The bottom ring, donut is also prominent in design. Just like the tiffany repro. You see a circle there.

Make sense?

DKS

EDITED: OH wait...No not three rings as you have Cehrabehra...only two. The bottom ring at the shank and then the next ring half way up the pavillion.

you sure you''re gonna be able to squeeze it all in? You''re only looking at about what 3mm from girdle to culet... and you want 3 distinct and separate rings starting below the girdle?

EDITED: OH wait...No not three rings as you have Cehrabehra...only two. The bottom ring at the shank and then the next ring half way ( actually 3/4 of the way up the pavillion. Just slightly under the girdle.)

Sorry I got too excited.

DKS

Actually it is just like the LM ring...just without the pave...and the top donut ring without the drapery swoop he incorporated.

Notice how his top ring is slightly under the girdle? The prongs come up and then over the girdle and rest on the crown?

DKS

Thanks gang for all your help. Gotta part from the moniter...have to pay for this creation.

DKS

Is this what you want?

Oh, DKS, that will be beautiful! Are there any pix of your ring as it is now?

My personal favorite name was "projectdoorknob"

I can''t wait to see this made!
