New J Hoops

I must be a jeweler''s worst nightmare. I bought an anniversary band 2 weeks ago but decided after having it sized to fit me I didn''t like having 3 rings on my finger and the diamonds in it just were not as nice as my wrings. So, I went back to the mall to see what I could do. I traded in an old pendant towards the anniversary band so I didn''t think they''d give me a refund too easily. The sales lady said I HAD to buy something the same price - which I didn''t like or believe but I decided to look at what they had for diamond earrings. These were priced at $50 less than the band so she said she''d see what she could do. Too funny when they rang up the skew number they were $100 less than marked but she didn''t say anything else about the difference.

So anyway, here are my new 1/2 ct diamond j hoops.

Thanks Skippy. I love earrings and a girl can''t have too many styles of diamond earrings. I talked to her about buying studs and having them mounted in leverbacks like Alj''s but she wanted way too much money for the custom work. I do like these earrings so I know I''ll enjoy them. They put the difference back on my debit card.

How much did the jeweler quote you for lever backs? I called around locally to see if I could have my smaller studs switched into levers and the price for WG was around $120. I didn''t ask for the additional jump ring, but if I do get the diamond remounted, will have them add those in so the diamonds dangle a bit more.

MC, the saleslady said it would be hundreds and since I’ve had them made before by a jeweler I knew that was way too high. I think $120 is fair if they provide the parts. You can buy the leverbacks and baskets online for about $60 to $70 dollars so all you’d need to pay the jeweler for is the labor. I really want a pair of diamond stud leverbacks so maybe someday. If you get them made; I’d love to see them.

Poshpepper, I actually am still hunting for a different anniversary band. I’ve tried on a few ¼ carats and liked them. I think something that has the same size band or smaller will work better than what I exchanged for the earrings. Looking is half the fun.
