I have had a project on the back burner for a long time but I needed a round 6mm calibrated stone and I wanted a tsavorite. I didn't actively look for a stone - this was more of a "someday" I will get around to it deal.Recently, Katharath was selling a 6mm round tsavorite! The stone had some flaws that Katharath and I discussed - most notably, it does hold its color well in some lighting conditions. However, I felt that the setting I had in mind (a modified IDJ earring jacket) would hopefully work wonders for the stone because of the halo and also the setting is quite closed in the back. Yuketiel at IDJ was wonderful to work with. I used one of the IDJ earring jackets and added 4 claw prongs and a delicate diamond bail. I used 5 pointers in the halo. The tsavorite is a medium color but happily has deepened a bit after being set. I had the tsav set low because I thought that might be helpful for this particular stone. Green is hard to photograph and the stone actually looks much nicer in person
