I have had a project on the back burner for a long time but I needed a round 6mm calibrated stone and I wanted a tsavorite. I didn't actively look for a stone - this was more of a "someday" I will get around to it deal.Recently, Katharath was selling a 6mm round tsavorite! The stone had some flaws that Katharath and I discussed - most notably, it does hold its color well in some lighting conditions. However, I felt that the setting I had in mind (a modified IDJ earring jacket) would hopefully work wonders for the stone because of the halo and also the setting is quite closed in the back. Yuketiel at IDJ was wonderful to work with. I used one of the IDJ earring jackets and added 4 claw prongs and a delicate diamond bail. I used 5 pointers in the halo. The tsavorite is a medium color but happily has deepened a bit after being set. I had the tsav set low because I thought that might be helpful for this particular stone. Green is hard to photograph and the stone actually looks much nicer in person

Wow, that looks beautiful set! :appl:

Great idea using the earring jacket. It's a very pretty pendant and I love that shade of green!

It does look lovely, but I sooo want more pics, JLW05!

Took many photos but sadly these were the best of the lot and were the only ones I felt came close enough to capturing the pendant! My iPad is a poor substitute for a good camera but it is all that I have. Also, I have trouble holding my iPad with steady hands.

I really like it, that particular Tsavorite looks to have a slight amount of blue in it which is awesome.

Oh, it looks fabulous!! I'm so happy you had it set - I think it turned out beautifully. I'm so pleased for you :).

Thank you Katharath. I am super pleased with the way the pendant turned out. The stone seems to hold its color so much better now that it is set.

That's just beautiful. My ID Jackets are my favorite piece of jewelry (besides my wedding rings of course ;) ). When I was at IDJ in September I saw they were selling pendants that match the jackets now. They said they got the idea from the ladies on this site. I'm surprised they didn't think of it on their own. You only have to see how beautiful pendants like yours come out to know it's a good idea. Wear it in good health!

You're so welcome :). I really like the pic of you wearing it - it shows that the pendant itself has a good yet tasteful presence. I think it's just perfect!

That came out so pretty! Bet you get a lot of compliments when you wear it -- for good reason! :appl:

Great way to make the best of the stone; the negatives are minimized and the idea to use and modify an earring jacket is excellent!

Koolchicken, Yukitiel didn't have any pendants matching the IDJ jacket in stock, or maybe he just didn't show me them because of the modifications I wanted. What a great idea for IDJ to stock the matching pendant settings! I know that Adwar manufactures the casting for the jackets and matching pendant.

JLW05, I was there in October, so a while ago. They only had two that day. I remember because he was trying to sell me one. ;) I imagine something like that is hard to keep in stock as it's quite a classic piece and a natural choice if you already have the jackets. The plain diamonds were nice, but I actually think I prefer it with the colored center stone. Seeing yours makes me want to make a similar one. I think I'm going to see what colored stone studs become my favorite and make a pendant to match. Your pendant is simply stunning and I love everything about it. From the choice of center stone, to the bail, and even the claw prongs. I hope you get many years of enjoyment out of it. :)

Really gorgeous!

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments,
