Hi all. I am new to posting here--although I have been lurking for quite a while soaking up information on diamonds! I happened on it by accident, when I was searching for images of rings, and I must say it is addicting! I have learned so much and actually feel as if I know what I am looking at when I look at diamonds (sometimes it feels like more than the sales associates). Anyway, I began looking for information on diamonds because my b/f of 4 years asked me what he should be looking for. I suppose that makes me a lady in waiting.

Fancy, welcome and congrats! I also found this site when I was googling to look at ring setting ideas for an upgrade for my 15th anniversary and 40th birthday. I started lurking and got very addicted almost immediately. Now I check in a lot and have really come to know and like some great people. I have also learned tons, and not just about diamonds!!! Happy hunting and from your screen name, should I assume you favor fancy cuts?!

Actually--I realize I shouldn''t have called myself Fancy on a diamond forum b/c I prefer brilliant rounds. Oops. I wasn''t even thinking. It is the title of the song I most recently downloaded, and I thought it sounded cute. But while I appreciate Fancy cuts, I am partial to the sparkle rounds display (though I like Ashers and ovals as well)

P.S. I have managed to piece together what most of the abreviations y''all use here stand for. For instance, I gather that FF is future fiance--but what is DF--dear fiance perhaps? and I suppose the H in DH stands for husband? Thanks!

yes, dh is dear husband or as I sometimes use it, dense husband (tee hee). I just assumed from your avatar you liked fancies, not to worry, your name does not need to mean anything at all (though there is an interesting thread about that if you look it up, with some people giving details about how they came up with their screen name...)...I love diamonds so mine was a no brainer! People here are always willing to help, some of the abbreviations took me a while to get, but now I am doing fine!

hehe. I''m not counting on my stay being being short, but I am sure it will be sweet because I really do enjoy Price Scope. Everyone seems so classy--I shouldn''t be surprised though--people with elegant taste generally are.

I don''t mind the wait too much. Anticipation is kinda fun.

My ring aspirations are fairly simple. My b/f and I have similar tastes, which is good. My favorite type of setting is a nice round stone with tapered baguettes as side stones. We both think it is a very classy and timeless setting. He has pointed out several settings with baguettes or a combination of other stones and baguettes, and I liked all of them really. I steered him in the direction of several reputable dealers that have been heavily praised on pricescope, and he has asked me specifically what I want as far as color, clarity, and cut, and I think he will manage to find something lovely with the specifications I told him to go with. He actually asked lots of questions, way more than I expected, and I think he probably knows a good deal more about diamonds now than your typical B&M sales person. He told me he was glad I''d done so much research because now he gets to do the fun part without the "boring" parts (I think researching is fun though!). We''ve found several potential center stones and several potential settings, so now he gets to go put everything together. I am doing my very best to stay out of it from here on out unless he asks my advice.
