Applause for Superbcert for another stone well done! We bought this beautiful rock as an upgrade from Barry:
GIA cert, H&A Super-Ideal cut RB
0.74ct RB, D SI1
5.84-5.86 x 3.57mm
D = 61% (60.9 on MegaScope)
T = 56% (55.9 on MegaScope)
G = med fac
C = none
P/S = Ex/Ex
Strong blue fluoresence
CA = 34.4
CH = 14.7%
PA = 40.8
PD = 43.1%
Proportion 0
Thanks so much to Barry and Judah for all their patience and for providing such a beautiful stone.
The setting is an A. Jaffe (a newer style of theirs), 18k WG ring size 4.75, purchased from Karagosian Jewelers in Sylvan Lake, MI.
I love the color of the stone, as well as the colors it gives off - the D color with the strong blue fluoresence just gives it a blue-ish "glow" sometimes that I love! Even with the fluoresence, it never looks hazy or milky or oily to me. It is an eye-clean (and darn near loupe clean!) SI1. I chose this hand shot because it really does look "alive"! But as I said before, it NEVER looks oily or milky - just "cool" as opposed to "warm" that people refer to in other colors. For me, this was actually an appeal - I wanted colorless / white, and the blue fluoresence made it that much more appealing, in that it may give it a little more of the white / cool tone I like.
I too was hesitant about fluoresence at first, but after having read the GIA report on fluoresence, and after seeing another D w/ StrB fluor in person, I found I actually liked it! I actually had two D''s, one faint blue, and this one w/ StrB side by side, and NEVER noticed any effect in either stone in any lighting condition. So to anyone out there hesitating about a stone with any degree of fluoresence - DON''T! You either a) won''t notice it at all, or b) like it!
The setting is a mix of a few elements I liked in other settings - a slightly split shank, the octet prongs (which gives the stone a slightly "square-ish" look, which I think is so cool!), an open basket area so I can see the entire stone, culet and all, from any angle I want, and an interesting side profile with the small accent diamonds.
I have SOOOOOOOOO many pics - so I picked a few to show it off from different angles, as well as the required hand-shot, which I think captures the "glow" I like in it so much Enjoy!!!
