New Vendor at LoupeTroop?

I don't think this is any one of your ladies but this vendor is bugging me. I know I don't need to buy from him/her it's just that when I think of Loupetroop, I think of preloved items!

This new vendor's policy bugs me. It feels like they're trying to sell without paying ebay, db or anything fees. I also find it hypocritical that they say the following

"F.Y.I. #3: Communication is key. I want to provide you with quality gemstones at reasonable prices. Always Negotiable! I stand behind all of my gemstones, therefore, I will not accept any returns unless the stone is grotesquely misrepresented. If return is accepted, you, the buyer will be responsible for return shipping costs by courier of your choosing."

If you stand behind all your gems, you should have a viewing period and accept returns. Asking us to pay for returns may be acceptable but ick. Do they know where LoupeTroop started from? I think it was a PSer's husband!

It's pushing a lot of pretty items down and not giving some preloved sellers a chance. :(

Done Ranting.

I agree with you. I found this vendor's "chit chat" in the right hand side box on the listings very impersonal and frankly, just too long!

I would not be surprised if a PSer's husband started loupetroop because my hubby is always telling me to sell some of my stuff before buying something new!

To be honest, I do not see how his return policy is any different from the girls who list on Preloved. Many, if most, will not accept returns. Many came there because they did not like the fees on ebay or diamond bistro. And even though a pricescoper's husband might have started the venue, if he opened it to the public ...... If this new seller is flooding the venue with items (which is how Preloved has become lately) then whomever is in charge should designate an item limit per seller.

Yes, it's a bit irritating, isn't it? The rhetoric in the side notes is a big turn off for me and actually makes me feel distrustful of the vendor! Plus I don't want an amethyst with a window the size of the Grand Canyon...

I'd say the return policy is ironic. Like royalstarry night said, the line that usually goes after "I stand behind my stuff" is "no hassle returns." Gah.

But I have no problem with buyer paying return shipping. I've returned quite a few things, and never has the seller given me money to send stuff back. Well, besides zappos and amazon ;))

Back to the seller with the expensive subpar gemstones.. I feel like most of the buyers on Loupe Troop are PSers. So probably this person won't sell a lot of anything. We're educated, right? 8-)

I think what irks me is that it's clearly a vendor and not preloved. I'm ok with no returns on preloved because usually it's somewhat heavily discounted. I know it's a nuanced difference that irks me but at least sell pretty goods! Everything has been windowed, glassy, heavily included, off a single picture. Even the ladies that sell on preloved generally post a few pics.

I'm just scared of more vendors posting on loupetroop, therefore defeating the original intention of loupetroop

I'm ok with having to pay for return shipping too. I sure hope nobody is buying anything!

I think this seller will be short-lived on LT. As you pointed out, the stones have quality issues (HUGE windows, inclusions, etc.). I just gloss right by their stones because the photos tell it all. No thanks.

I will have to go look to see the listing y'all are talking about, but I don't think they really intend for people in the jewelry business to be listing items on LT. I thought it was for second hand sales???

I have noticed this too, and haven't been looking as much lately as it has clogged it up and even discouraged me from putting some things up for sale.

Noo...please post so you don't need to see those stones.

And....THEY'RE BACK!

http://loupetroop.com/listings/loose-stones-colored-gemstone/blue-spinel1-dot-05cts

They clearly read PS as they've cut down the text to

"We have closed our institute of Gemmology of 40yrs. We are selling rare and precious gemstones. Our gemmologist qualified from (GAGB) Gemmological Association of Great Britain,(DGemG)Idar Oberstein, also a Alumni Member of GIA.

FOR STUDENTS SITTING FOR THEIR LONDON PRELIMINARY OR DIPLOMA, OR GIA GRADUATE DIPLOMA, WE HAVE ANY SPECIMEN YOU MAY REQUIRE. WE HAVE FACETED GLASS FOR TESTING SYNTHETICS, ONLY UPON REQUEST. WHAT WILL BE ON DISPLAY, WILL BE MAINLY PRECIOUS STONES.... WE ALSO HAVE COLLECTORS GEMS FROM RARE GEMS TO CRYSTALS AND MINERALS. FEEL FREE TO WRITE AND INQUIRE.."

Yay no more FYI or return policy but I still don't trust them. Or their GINORMOUS WINDOWS! O.O

LT was started by a PS'er and her hub as an alternative to DB...but I'm not sure we can assume they solely had the intention of doing it so that 'only' pre-loved PS people could post. I would imagine that they would like for it to grow to be like DB at some point which means additional traffic, paying advertisers etc. Servers and upkeep/time doesn't pay for itself.

Well whatever kind of seller they are, I hope their run on LT and DB is short lived, as I can't imagine that anyone that frequents those sites (namely us, lol!) would be interested in such mediocre stones at such incredibly ridiculously over-inflated prices.

I think I've seen that exact spinel on weblorn or another ebay site for $50-75...
