Hi everyone,

I''m still officially a LIW, but thought this forum might be better for my question... just curious if anybody here has considered/had/attended a New Years Eve wedding? My friends and I have talked about how it might be fun to have all our friends in the same place with a fun occasion to celebrate for NYE, rather than scramble to try and come up with some random all-inclusive bar or party like we end up doing most years. But I''m not sure if some guests might resent having a wedding to attend rather than making their own plans...

And would it be very difficult to reserve a reception place on that date? We already have a hotel in mind, but I''m not sure what their policy would be for a holiday.

Just hoping for some feedback!

That''s an interesting question--

I guess it depends on your particular guests, but no matter what, you''re always going to have a few guests that have difficulty with whatever you decide. Personally, as a guest, I wouldn''t mind it. We''re sick of the whole feeling that-- we need to be out and having a good time--
feeling of desperation on New Years Eve.

But I imagine, as a bride, it might cause some difficulty with vendors since there are SO MANY PARTIES that go on on that day. Might be too much room for problems--music, caterers, etc. You''ll be competing with much more than the usual wedding crowd.
Prices might be crazy too.

I think it''s a GREAT idea! Personally I''d love to go to a new year''s eve wedding, perfect excuse for a great party! And a lot better than finding a bar with party favors and champagne. If you book early enough then you''d still get first dibs on bands etc etc. It''s only weddings people plan this far ahead.
