Hi

Looking at this 3.2 carat round stone as part of a ring for our 10th anniversary. I'm not an expert by any means and was hoping to get any thoughts on this one. I see a lot of tiny dots on the middle image but not sure what that means. Thanks in advance.

The 36 crown worries me. Do you have any pics of the stone, or a video? Not loving the images.

Thanks for the input. There is a video here

Could you elaborate specifically on what you don't like about the images?

I would pass. Coming from India? So not easy to see and return if you don’t like it? Unless you have someone to vet for impact of the clouds, I wouldn’t risk it. Clouds are grade setting. And there are more clouds not shown. And is there something not quite right with the lighting in the ASET? Is there that much leakage? I’m guessing not...

Not loving the black inclusions on the top but you probably won’t notice those under regular conditions.

Thanks for the response. I didn't realize that was a site in India! The jeweler is in California, she mentioned her partner had seen the stone in person but I never asked about location.

What do you mean by "clouds are grade setting?"

Again appreciate your help

I don’t know if it’s in India. I just asked cause of the link to the stone. Maybe it’s not.

That’s the first thing listed under inclusions on the Gia report. So that is the most significant reason for its SI1 clarity grade. I just don’t like clouds. But not every cloud is a problem. Just depends.

What’s the return policy?

Ok just checked. The link is an Indian website (.in) so maybe the stone is there. Not sure if it is a problem to return. Maybe not. Ask your vendor.

Lots of stones come from India. I would not assume its a problem to return until you talk to your jeweler and find out (like
@LLJsmom said).

Ask your jeweler to tell you which cloud is the grade making inclusion. I think its the one thats not on the table (more on
the edge of the stone. What I think doesnt amount to a hill of beans though. Ask the vendor.

Did the vendor say it was eye-clean?

I think the aset is over backlit (again like @LLJsmom said).

Lets see if we can get @Karl_K 's and @flyingpig 's opinion.

Yeap, the backlight is overly bright. In the actual photo, the lower girdle facets are reasonably crispy; though there could be minor leakage. It is not as bad as what it appeaes to be in the ASET.

Thanks for chiming in! I didnt like the ASET bc I saw leakage but know you are much better than I am at identifying overly bright backlight vs true leakage

I would call the ASET useless.
That combo can be all over the place.
With a 36 degree crown and a 57% table besides under the table you have to look at the upper girdles not being a good match for the lowers which can make the diamond look small because it lacks edge to edge brightness.

Besides the unanswered cut questions.
A si grade based on clouds with a clouds not shown is grounds for a lot of concern unless vetted by someone you trust who is looking at the stone in person.

Thank you for all the feedback! Very helpful. Sounds like you guys have years of experience. Back to the drawing board for me.
