Hello everyone,
I am considering to buy a channel set ring with no breathing holes which I really like. From what I understand they are harder to clean. My question is are they impossible to clean 100%, to the point that with age the will loose their shine ( or will not be as clean as rings with breathing holes) . Or am I worrying to much about this and jewelers can clean them 100%? If anyone with experience with this type of setting can give their experience I would appreciate it.
Thank you guys for any guidance.

Wanted to add that these will be princess cuts with no gap or metal between them

Sounds more like invisible set rather than channel set - do you have a picture of the ring by chance?

You would really only ever be able to clean the surface of the tables of those diamonds. They may not get a lot of dirt and grime around them but grease can slide down the smallest opening. Would be very difficult to clean!

You definitely want the azures. If water or other gunk gets behind the stones, it will be impossible to clean properly and the stones won't perform as they should.

Thank you!
So you think even jewelers will not be able to get it 100% clean? am I correct?
Thank you

I had a ring like that, and while lovely, I could not stand being unable to keep it clean. Even steaming and boiling on the stove (which I do not recommend btw) didn't work. My jeweler couldn't get it completely clean either.

Those square diamond set into the ring have no air space under them for cleaning access.
I guarantee the "seal" between those diamonds and the metal is NOT water tight.
Moisture, sweat, soap, hand lotion, dirt, bacteria will get in, but never get out. :knockout:

I would not buy that. :nono:
The pavilions are going to be come filthy and a dirty pavilion degrades the light performance.
Surface gunk changes the index of refraction of the pavilion's diamond/air interface, which means the light rays no longer go in the direction they were intended to go.

Thank you guys!!! I will make sure they have the breathing holes!
Is this considered cathedral setting or is it in between?
