Non-engagement diamond ring

After I build up my little jewelry fund into something more robust, I''d like to buy a .50ct H&A stone and make it into a ring for myself. I like the Vatche X-Prong but am concerned about it looking too much like an engagement ring. I like simple looks, but also think they''ll look too much like an e-ring. What other styles are out there, and what have people done with their own non-engagement rings?

Have you considered adding another stone--perhaps an inexpensive colored stone--for a two-stone look? That could be simple without looking engagementy.
