The tourmaline from PG arrived today & it's as stunning as I expected. Wonderful color, saturation -- and it sparkles SO beautifully. Especially for VL I took some pics but -- warning -- I'm kind of embarrassed because they are crummy! Cloudy day, could not get the color right. Tried a few inside while trying not to throw a tantrum. Better coming soon (I hope). The color IRL is SO much better!

4.16 ct. 10.94 x 8.32

Outdoors

Inside, looking completely different -- it's not this green.

None catch the life in it, but I'll try on a better day.

Also snapped a few of a tourmaline from Steve Wallner that I loooove too. Pretty little asscher, about 6.3 mm -- I tidied up paperwork & now have to find where I put it. :errrr:

Wanted to chime in quickly. I know the pictures are crummy because Gene has one of the most accurate pictures I've come across so I know your tourmaline looks tons better. Please keep trying again. I hope to see more of this beauty!

I will, Chrono, for sure. Not a day to rush photos. Here's Gene's picture for accuracy but no flat photo can depict its incredible sparkle:

I'm all  that you think those photos are crummy because it already looks like a beautiful stone.. and the size, and color!

please take more!

Not-great photos or not, I still think it's stunning, and I can't wait to see pics on a more sunny day - I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in good lighting, considering how well even these shots turned out :-)

Gosh it looks great! THEY look great! If these are crumbs I can hardly wait to see the meal!

Straight up ****; should not be allowed. :cheeky:

    :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl:

Well, thank you, nice people -- I beat myself up last night for posting these inaccurate pics at all. Will try again but it's raining today & I have to take the dog & cat to the vet, major chore.

Steve Wallner's tourmaline came out well, though. It is so pretty, such even lovely color & so beautifully cut. I have never yet bought a stone from Steve that I haven't loved.

Here's a question -- I'm gonna threadjack my own thread. In color-perception tests, I come out excellent on blues & greens, not so hot on pinks & reds -- far from color blind, just not able to perceive subtleties of tone as well. I love pink shades in general, but do not like pink stones enough to buy them myself -- blues & greens & yellow knock me out. Do you think our ability to see (or not see) gradations in colors, even in hues we like, affects what gems we like & buy?

+! :lickout:

While Gene's pic is a stunner, yours match on colour tone fairly well so don't beat yourself up too much. Love the size too! The SW stone is also very pretty... not set yet?

I'm sure our perception of colour has a great bearing on the colours, and even the shades of a colour, that we choose for ourselves.

Laurie, I think it makes sense logically for us to purchase the colour gems we have a deeper understanding/vision of naturally. With those colours we are 'able to perceive subtleties of tone' and 'gradations of colour' better, letting us appreciate them more. As we know a gemstone is far more than just one flat piece of colour and since we are able to see more depth in some colours, we gravitate towards them. That's how I see it anyway.

I really hope you can show us more of those beauty tourmalines =)

The color is the only thing that seems off in your photos. Otherwise, the focus is great.

OOOOOOOOOH! SO BEAUTIFUL!  :cheeky: :cheeky:

I love the size! Just a simple setting, let that beautiful cut shine through! :appl: :appl: :appl: Maybe a 3 stone? Or even a solitaire!

Can't wait to see more pics! :appl: :appl: :appl: Tons, and tons! That is the bare minimum. We will need tons and tons of pics!

Gobs . . .

Just in case I wasn't clear. . .

Waaaaayyy more pics!

You're adorable, iLander! More coming as soon as the weather clears up & there's some sun. I'm thinking 3 stone too as a good possibility -- I designed a few settings in the shower this a.m. :)) Possibly a solitaire with melee on the shank & double prongs. Diamond side stones would be usual but I sometimes like to do something different, but that won't try to upstage the tourm. Any ideas?

I am trying to be patient here too, understanding that winter is a dreary time, horrible for gem photography. Whatever you end up with, I'm sure it'll be a stunning ring.

Laurie! :wavey: :wavey: :wavey:

Don't make me come up there, little lady!

I'm just going to wait here . . . :read:

 :saint: ??

It's a very nice stone and I like the small one too. Will you be setting it as well?

OMG, so jealous you got this! I was drooling when he posted it...

Aww, Jereni, your mint takes the cake. No fair trawling for mine too! iLander, I PROMISE photos asap. It's either been raining out or it's about 100 degrees below zero & sunny. I love you but not-freezing-my-butt-off love. Tomorrow if it's a good photo day, I. will. take. pics! The beauty is on my desk twinkling at me right now.

Aww, JewelFreak I saw you had posted and was hoping for pics, lol!!

It's a beautiful gem and I too am looking forward to seeing more of it. Congrats on nabbing it :)

What? You're not willing to go out in the cold and snow, for ME? Okay, I understand . . . :(sad

Just kidding you. :D

It would be a bit silly to go out and lose a digit to frost bite. It would be very distracting from the ring. :)

I'll just read some more . . . :read:

I keep checking in but no pics. :nono:  Oh, the anticipation!

I was the goof that just put new pics in the original thread - JewelFreak created a new thread for her new pics - and, they definitely don't disappoint :-)

I just saw it as I worked my way up all the threads. Yes, she did not disappoint. ;))

I'm glad - it would have been an absolute shame to have missed them!!!
