November Curse Theory

So as I sit on the list, I have come up with a theory. So I had too much time on my hands less week, and I took a look at when those in the top 25 joined the list. Well, just looking at the top 25, 36% of them joined the LIW list in November. That's 9 people out of 25. Every other month only has 3 people at the very most. Even one of the people, Blueroses, bless her heart, joined the list in November of 2004.

So what's the deal? Maybe I'm on to something or maybe I really just had too much time on my hands.

Updated 8/22/06: I originally couldn't find when Starset Princess joined the list and she said it was in November. At now brings the latest count to 10 of the top 20 Joined the LIW list in the month of November. That's 50%!!! Now, I'm not saying that my curse extends to those married, born, or engaged in November. I'm only claiming that it looks like it applies to those of us who joined the list then. Is there anyone close to proving me wrong? I thought I could prove my own theory wrong but I guess not. The ring has been done for a whole month now and I don't see a proposal in sight!!

I think I might even be one of those ladies who was added in November..! Dont'' remember for certain. But I think it also has a link to why so many people actually get engaged around Christmas time too. Perhaps because it''s the end of the year and guys start thinking, I''m going to propose within a year. So naturally we women mosey on over to the Ladies in Waiting list!

Wow- that is interesting! I think I actually joined in the summer! I was so glad to see MandyPandy off the list- she was a top 10er I''m pretty sure!

Although I do know that I'll definitely be off the list before November!!

(Talk about curses, I've been waiting for 2 weeks for the place we're getting married at in November to re-open, and this morning they're open but their computers are down cause they have a virus!!! So, I might not get to schedule it today. Aw man!)

I know! I sometimes sneak over to the knot to check out ideas but I feel guilty to do it as it''s not "official" yet and since I really have NO idea when the engagement will come (just that it will be in 2006) makes it really hard to plan on anything,,,

He''ll appreciate all the work you''ve done once you''re engaged! We started talking about location immediately, and since I''d already researched I was able to say "this place is cool... and there''s this one..." and he loved it! Of course, I don''t think I''m going to tell him how much I looked into it beforehand...

Remember the Friends episode when Monica put her name down on the museum before they were engaged? Made Chandler speed up his proposal! Hmmm... ladies... anybody want to try it???

I''ve been sitting on the LIW list for a while now, so I thought I''d check the date I joined it. I looked it up, saw "5/11/2005", and thought OH NO! But then I realized the date was May 11, not November 5 and breathed a little sigh of relief. On the other hand, I was born in November, so maybe the curse still applies.

One reason there are so many Novembers is that November 2004 was when the list was originally created, Once upon a time LIW was a series of 3 really long threads and we asked Leonid to give us our own section (I believe Golden Girl is the one started it all). Any November 2005 additions probably come on when they started dreaming of a possible Christmas proposal.

Hmmm - maybe for some of the other gals were hoping for a Christmas proposal -- for me we just happened to sit down for a convo in oct/nov on what our goals/plans for the next year were and happily taking the next step in our relationship was on the list for both of us! Then I started researching online like I do for everything and found PS -lurked a bit and then realized this was the place for me!!

Cailet, that''s pretty much what happened with me too. My bf just happened to ask me to start looking at rings in November, so I found this wonderful place while I was researching diamonds and engagement rings. I didn''t have any hopes for a Christmas proposal-actually I didn''t want one during the holidays because I want our engagement day to be its own special day.

Alexis- If you''d like me to have a little chat with your significant other, I''d be more than happy to do a little prodding ...

I would love that job!! However, as I have been around here awhile, it looks like I wouldn''t be very good at it. But maybe it is like Hitch, I could do it well for anyone else, just not myself.

I guess it would be a sacrifice to the greater good.

Would I get a discount on diamonds? I get a discount at my current job that actually does give me a discount on a little bit of diamond jewelry. I wouldn''t want to give that up!!

9 months of waiting and going up to #16 isn''t too bad, I guess. Hang in there, ladies, it''s worth every minute!
