Second post tonight--hopefully this is okay. FI and his family of homebrewers are making homebrew for our wedding favor, which I think is a great idea and so totally "us". Each of-age guest gets two bottles: a California Common (pale ale) and a Hefeweizen (wheat beer). We need to come up with names for each. For the California Common, we came up with "Hoppily Ever After" since it is a very hoppy beer. We are struggling with the Hefeweizen. We want something short and catchy that is appropriate for the beer and the situation. We are not taking a shared last name, so that easy option is out of the running. So far we have come up with:

MatrimoniALE
Husband and Weizen
Andean Wedding Ale
Wit Wedding

FI doesn''t like using "ale" because brewers don''t typically refer to wheat beers as ales, though technically correct. I am generally creative, but am hitting a wall here. Any ideas?

For Better or Weizen?

I love this idea! And I think "Hoppily Ever After" is perfect! Out of the ones you came up with for the wheat, I think "Wit Wedding" is my fave.

I love Husband and Weizen, for what it''s worth.

Hefeweddin??? I''m trying, lol!!!!
I love Hoppily ever after, though! Such a cute idea!!!

Thanks so much, ice-queen, mscushion, and princessplease! It is hard, huh? But these are great ones! I will pass them along to FI, and keep you posted. He is in charge of all things drink for the party.

Husband and Weizen ** LOVE IT!

Andean Wedding Ale

Wit Wedding

and i love Ice Queens "for better or weizen"

Similar to Wit Wedding, Weiz(en) Wedding??

Also, Weissbier is the general German term for a wheat beer, so *technically* your hefeweizen is a weissbier. You could call it "Weiss(bier) Wedding"?

Of course, the "Wit Wedding" is great, too, if FIs brews are belgian-style.

I love the play on White Wedding, whether it translates to something similar, or just sounds similar.

Cute, Mere!

Thanks, jcarly!

Pnp, I will have to ask FI, but I am guessing that it is Belgian, since we went were in Belgium when him and his dad came up with the recipe. (Have I mentioned how much I love my FILs--we go on vacations just to drink beer!). I love the way that Weiss Wedding sounds, though, so hopefully it is German! (And, can I just say that I am so glad to see you posting on here again! I hope all the drama has subsided!

I like this one!

Weizing Bells (are ringing)
or along those lines.

How SWheat It Is

And I like Weiss Wedding better than Wit Wedding, just because of the short i in wit... weiss works better with the sound of it! And we''re not looking to be TOO technically correct, are we? :)

Thanks audball!

Narwhal, a whole new possible play on words that I hadn''t considered. Awesome!

Katy, I love How SWheat It Is! So cute!

If it was my project, I would totally favor a better name over technicality. FI on the other hand, . . . Hopefully I can convince him, though

I just wanted to say that I would vote for weiss wedding over wit wedding. However hard I try I just cant get "wit" to be white in my head, the "i" is too hard.

But I do really like this idea, I think the play on words is so cute!

Love Hoppily Ever After! Very cute.

I like Husband and Weizen & For Better or Weizen ...

My lame attempt is something along the lines of "Something Brew/ed Hefeweizen"
If you could make the beer blue, it would make more sense.

Terrible, I know.

Thanks, tropiqalkiwi! I hear what you mean about the hard "i". FI is willing to entertain Weiss Wedding--so I am totally stoked!

And, Spark, he loved the "Something Brewed" so much that we are using that for our menu! We are having our wine listed as "Something Oaked" (instead of "old) and we are making more play on words for "borrowed" and "new". Yay!

Wheat Wedding? (A little more obvious for those of us who are not into beer or german and thus don't entirely get the wit or weiss versions)

I also like Husband and Weizen & For Better or Weizen

ETA: IMHO, Hoppily ever after and For better or weizen go together the best, if that matters.

I can''t believe that I just saw this. I''m so excited that he liked it and that I was able to help ... Now, note to self, must gloat to FI who laughed at my lameness.

I had to search this thread b/c I saw some Hefeweizen yesterday and came up with something "brilliant" <-- subjective, of course.

If it''s not too late ... how about ... something like

"I only Hefeweizen for you" ... It''s a bit of a stretch playing on I only have eyes for you but given the v - eyes sound that the "feweiz" makes, it might work?

Ditto to the idea that a lot of people aren''t going to get the play on words using "Hefeweizen". I think I''d avoid that or a lot of people won''t get it.

i have no idea. i''m horrible at this type of thing, but i wanted to say that i ADORE the idea...homebrew! that''s such a great idea.

What about "To Hef and to Hold"?

Me too.

I love the idea of the homebrew- your guests are going to love it

Spark, that is too cute! I will have to tell FI. The artist designing our labels is in NYC working on another project right now, so I doubt she has started working on it really. I am so excited that you came back to the thread and thought about us!

You need to tell your FI that he is the lame one for not appreciating your clear genius

Thanks, laine and diamondseeker2006. FI and I are actually having a page in our programs that essentially explains all of the things people might not "get" at our reception, but it would be nice that they get it.

Ooh, To Hef and to Hold is cute, too, ladypirate. I like it!

Thanks, jstar, jcarly, and Danielle for your votes. I always love to hear what my PS gals weigh in

did you come up with the "something borrowed" and "something new" ones yet? if not what''s on your menu? anything chargrilled or noodle?

We have not, Squirrly. Any ideas? We are having a southern BBQ. FI''s uncle owns an amazing midscale soul food restaurant, and he is luckily giving us catering for our wedding present.

Brisket
Pulled pork
Fried chicken
Vegan ribs
German potato salad
Mac and cheese (perhaps noodle-y) and mac and soy cheese
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Collard greens
Fried green tomatoes
and cobbler

Thanks, cocolaw! I think so, too! Luckily for us, FI''s family are actually skilled homebrewers--especially his uncle and dad--so it will actually be good beer and for beer people. My favorite part, though, is that FI has taken complete control over this project, so it is one aspect of planning he is getting really excited about (and one less thing I need to worry about).

well Barbequed might be close enough to Borrowed, there''s also Borrow-BQ''d
i''m not sure what to do the the new though might be time for me to research some german
