Just an FYI. I haven't bought from them for a very long time but I noticed when browsing our vendors that NumberOneGem on Ebay has changed their return policy to no returns.

I'm thinking NOG should be removed from the vendor list? Because (a) of the final sale/no returns policy, and (b) at least some people here believe that Tan is no longer with the company, perhaps has died.

I wouldn't say be removed because they changed their return policy because they're not cheating anyone by doing this, they're just saying that they won't accept returns (of course ebay's policy usually trumps that but thats also another story) But I believe a big caveat has to be put by their name because of their policy change.

If it turns out that they're cheating customers, then sure, they should def. be removed at that point. Lets remember, it took a very long time for NSC to be removed, because there wasn't any proof that they cheated anyone. Once they did, they came off the trusted list.

I know Ebay has recently asked sellers to go to either no refunds, 30 day or 60 day returns. I would be asking the vendor if it has something to do with that.

Has anyone recently purchased a stone from NOG? I don't have the time right now to do a particularized search of posts in the past year or two, but IIRC people have commented on the decline in the caliber of the inventory & at least one person reported that Tan is no longer with the company, had passed away. If that's the case, then it's no longer the NOG that earned the confidence and favorable reviews-comments which are why it's been on the Suggested Vendors list for years.

I haven't bought from NOG, but I will say that about 10 days ago I had a question about a stone and the message reply was signed "Regards Tan". Obviously it doesn't mean it is the same Tan that people here respect, but hopefully it is.

Well that's interesting! I haven't sold on ebay in many many years so am not up on their policies.

Did they change policies on SNAD at all?

I am unsure of that, however I am guessing a dispute for an item not as described would still be accepted.

I don't use Ebay myself, but my step-mother is a very highly rated seller and has been for over 10 years. She was talking about this change last week and she too has opted for a no returns policy but may consider a return if a buyer contacts her. That's why I recommended to contact the seller, because their public change of policy has most likely been forced by Ebay. They may still accept returns but not 30 day returns.
