Hi Everyone! I have been a lurker for several months now-since I decided to upgrade my engagement ring (for the 3rd and final time!) To make a long story short, my first engagement ring was very small, but beautiful and elegant. My fiance was just starting out working and it was all he could afford. We decided to upgrade after one year. We traded in my small but beautiful ring for a bigger diamond and a new setting, only later to find out that our diamond was a clarified diamond and thus had no real value. Needless to say, I was heartbroken and sad that we were essentially ripped off, mainly because we did not know much about diamonds. We were also lied to and told it was "certified"- but we did not know how to verify this! My fiance agreed that this ring would also have to be upgraded for a "real" diamond. I found a gorgeous setting in bailey banks and biddle and so it began. I finally decided on a 1.51 carat, H color, (eyeclean) I1. Excellent cut, polish, symmetry etc. It sparkles like mad. Now that I compare to the diamond that is clarified I can really see the difference. I am so happy! here are the pix... I am still working on taking some clear ones.
