I bought this 5mm David Yurman classic cable bracelet in blue topaz recently but have concerns about it's authenticity. I've bought 2 DY rings that ended up being fake in the past year and thankfully was able to return those as they were obviously fake. I recently bought this bracelet and am worried about whether it's authentic or not, though I think it's authentic. The weight of this bracelet feels right, stamp looks the same as my other bracelet, rope pattern looks good, and the stone cut looks accurate. The seller has sold a few thousand items with all but a few neutral/negative feedback, one of which said they thought theirs was a DY copy. They've been an ebay seller for over 5 years. I'm just looking for any insight any of you might have just from photos.
But, a few things give me pause:
- the silver 'circles' around the stone setting don't look the same and are wider than on my old prasiolite bracelet
- seller is in NYC where DY fakes are common (the 2 rings I bought from another seller in the past year were from NYC sellers and were fake / counterfeit)
- condition was listed as used/pre-owned, but there's not one scratch or sign of wear on this bracelet that I can see.
- seller lists their other items as pre-owned too, but I haven't seen one item in their store that looks actually pre-owned. Maybe they're just good at polishing?
Does anyone have any guesses on if this might be authentic or not?
I know it's just a guess online from photos, but if any obvious signs of a fake stand out, please let me know. I haven't found a jeweler around here that would test the stone for me unless I purchase an appraisal. Is the third time a charm with this item likely authentic after the previous 2 DY rings I bought being fake?
