OK, I think I can call this an antique. It was my grandmother''s engagement ring. I don''t know the specs, but I''ve been told it is an Old European Cut diamond, around .75 carats. I have no idea about the color or clarity. The setting is original and the ring was presented to her in the early to mid 1920''s.

After seeing all of the beautiful rings here I thought I''d share this one. It has lots of detailing and definitely has an art deco feel to it. The setting is platinum and there are 2 surprise diamonds above and below the main stone.

OMG, I love it! Its beautiful, and how wonderful to have the family history attached to it! Gorgeous!!

Wow, beautiful! What a treasure!!!

i love your omc. what a special and beautiful ring.

Thank you! It''s funny, the pictures really do show that it is a round diamond but in person, most folks don''t think it is (because the setting is square). I loved this ring as a child- it''s the one piece that started my infatuation with fine jewelry.

Very pretty and what a special piece!

Beautiful! I am used to older diamonds having a warm color to them but yours looks really white. It is stunning!!! Congrats in having something so precious!

Oh My Goodness, how lucky you are to have your Grandmother''s engagement ring!! Such a gorgeous treasure. I love the stone and the setting. It''s just beautiful!

Surfgirl- you made me laugh!

I always thought I loved this setting, but over the years, I''ve come to think of it as rather mechanical looking - but you nailed the decscription! I''ve been thinking of having it reset (if they would be able to save the original setting), but I am sure I''ll talk myself out of it. I just don''t think the setting brings out the beauty of the diamond at all.

I do plan to have it appraised soon- maybe I''ll take it into NYC one of these days.

Thank you to everyone for all of the really nice things you''ve said about the ring!
