Some of you know that I am a Medical Device Sales Rep and I recently started a new job in Feb. Well, I found out yesterday that one of the surgeon''s I''m quite close with was found dead in his home Monday night/early Tuesday morning. I don''t have any more details yet however this has never happened to me before where someone that I knew and just worked with a few days ago has suddenly died.

Since last night I''ve spent some time reflecting on how strange and short life can be. It was very odd that last Wednesday after finishing a case with this surgeon we discussed faith and the role it played in our lives. Needless to say he was lacking in this area following his recent divorce. It is so sad, he was only 47. Its even stranger now because I was taking him to an educational meeting at the end of August and I have to cancel the flight reservations because he is no longer with us. How does this happen?

I''ll let you know when and if I get futher details on his death.

Thanks for listening.

Sorry to hear Emerald...

Wow, EM. That is terrible news. I''m so sorry to hear that! How are you handling it?

It''s very scary, also. A good lesson for PSers, too. Make sure you appreciate all the time you have now with your loved ones, and don''t obsess about the future, because you''re not promised anything.

I'm very sorry to hear about that, EM1. I will be thinking of you and his family and friends.

Thanks, guys. Elledizzy...I''m not sure how I''m handling it at this point. I''m just really sad. I''ve never had this happen before and it just doesn''t seem real yet. I have to be at the hospital this surgeon worked at on Friday for a number of cases and I''m not sure how to relay my sadness.

I''m so sorry to hear that and you''re in my thoughts and prayers. It is never easy to lose anyone in your life, and really puts things in perspective.

EM1 - I''d imagine you''re probably just a little numb right now? Just remember to grieve and don''t hold it in. if you have to cry, cry! Talk about with people who knew him, and try to remember positive, happy memories.

Sorry, I wish I could say something to make you feel better. Unfortunately I don''t think those pefect words exist.

How terrible. I am very sorry to hear your sad news. My thoughts go out to his family, and to you and fellow co-workers.

EL, sorry to hear about your friend. I recently lost my grandmother earlier this month. Everyone reacts differently don''t feel like you need to put on a face or anything when you go to the hospital on Friday. Honestly, it''s still very raw to you, don''t think you need to feel/do a certain thing.

Big Hugs.

I am so sorry to hear that

I''m really sorry to hear that sad news. Sending my thoughts to his family.

I am sorry to hear this Em...

Sadly I work in a hospital setting and there are times I go to see patients and find out that they coded and died. One patient I remember seeing, he was cheery and excited to go home and was up talking to me about his life and 20 minutes after I left that floor he coded and died.

Life is short, it gives you a roller coaster of emotions and it gives you an understanding about how short life really is.

Send a plant or donate to a charity he would have liked, attend the wake and give your reguards to the family he left behind.

*hugz*

I''m so sorry for your loss. I sympathize with you and with the people close to this surgeon.

Last week, in the midst of my family''s happiness about my engagement, my cousin''s wife died unexpectedly from complications from a C-section, leaving two little kids and a newborn; she was in her mid-thirties. It was a huge reality-check. Life is so short! We all need to remember how lucky we are to be on this earth, and how lucky we are to have the capacity to love and be loved.

My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Hugs to you!

OMG, kittybean, I''m so sorry! That is such a sad story. How does that happen in this day in age. Complications from a c-section, really? Wow, I''m so sorry.

*hugs*

I''m so sorry, Emerald.

Kittybean, I''m also sorry for your and your family''s loss. That''s just tragic.

EmeraldLover and ladypirate, thank you so much for your sympathy. It has been a hard week for the family; it hasn''t been as hard for me personally because I did not know her well, but my heart is absolutely breaking for those babies and for my cousin.

Emerald, I''m so sorry you had to go through this! We went through something very similar a while back when SO''s employer committed suicide in his home. It is very sad, and it''s hard to grasp just how frail life can be. I hope you are able to take some time to grieve. My heart goes out to you.
