BF and I are going to Cabo at the end of August, and have reservations for Riu Santa Fe. It''s pretty inexpensive, but I''m wondering if we should splurge a bit more and stay somewhere nicer.

Anyone have any suggestions or experiences? We''d like an all-inclusive!

OMG! Thats so weird!!!! My friend here at my work (only other girl under 30) Just left for there THIS MORNING!!!!! Her plane landed like an hour ago! haha

I think she is in the Palace one?!

IMO i would stick with the inexpensive hotel and save the money to be able to enjoy more of the location. Nothing is worse than staying at an expensive hotel (albeit nice and awesome), but having no money for fun :)

plus, think of all the treasures you can find :)

Good Point. I was going to "surprise" change the hotel to something really nice for SO, but I think he might better enjoy some more activities on the vacation, than just having egyptian cotton sheets and a plasma TV. Althought the jetted tubs could be fun...

Thanks for the input!

Riu Palace is supposedly nicer, and with an older, less frat boy-ish crowd. I am still slightly considering that one, since it''s not TOO much more money.

Hope your friend is having fun!! Tell me what she says about the hotel when she gets back! lol

I saw a holiday there as well for quite a good price, let me know when you return how it was - that is if you don''t change hotels.

Has anyone ever been to Dreams Tulum in the Riviera Maya/ Tulum area??? We are planning a trip in October (its my 25th b-day and our 7 year anniversary), so if anyone has any suggestions on hotels in the Riviera Maya I would love some feedback (I hope I am not threadjacking!) I only want to stay in a luxury hotel (5 stars and AI), with really good food and comfy beds!!!

DH and I were in Cabo a couple of years ago. It is so beautiful there and the water is like a bathtub. You will love it there.

I have been to Cabo twice and I''m only warning you of this because it happened to me! Two years ago labor day weekend hurricane evacuation! We were on day two of a 7 day trip when we got word of a potential hurricane and wound up leaving on day 3, 4 days early. The hurricane hit directly on Cabo. It doesn''t happen very often but we were pissed because we were originally suposed to go to Capri, Italy. I was pretty sure that the west coast doesn''t get that many hurricanes but I was proved wrong. It sucked. We knew there was potential given the time of year but apparently down there they are more common then I thought. They hardly ever get up the coast of California because they usually venture out to sea by the time they get to the baja penninsula but that isn''t always the case and probably why the rates are good in august and early september. I have been in October and that trip was awesome and the reason we decided to go back again. That last trip really turned me sour on the place but its not its fault, just mother nature. I''m just letting you know that it is a risk.

My husband and I went to Cabo for our honeymoon last year. If I may suggest a place... MeCabo!! It''s the Melia at Nikki Beach. It was awesome!!! I don;t know if they have an all inclusive, and the place was kind of expensive, but it was sooo worth it! It is within walking distance to the marina and downtown (10 minutes down the beach or on the street.) Just a tip if you do stay here: There is a night club right inside the hotel. It''s quite noisy if you are very close to it, and it is ALL NIGHT! But, we stayed in room 420, which is 2 floor above it, and we were fine. If you do a search for this hotel, there should be some great pics and info. Good luck and have fun!!! (Take lots of sunscreen with you cuz you''ll need it!)
