We're BAAAAACKKK!!! I'm posting this here in case other people are interested in our trip to Michael C. Fina and Leon's (but I have your info now, and will email you soon). Please don't be mad but we don't have any pictures!
Dani and I met at MCF. Dani is AWESOME btw!!! We spent a total of 5+ hours together today and it felt like we've known each other forever!
I asked at MCF if we could take pictures, and the saleslady nixed it off the bat.
I tried on the Mark Patterson ring that you like and it's really pretty on. I loved the delicate-ness of the band...it is SUPER SUPER thin. I wasn't a huge fan of the gap between the stone and the metal that runs under the stone, but it wasn't really that noticeable. It was GORGEOUS with the two matching bands (also very thin) flanking either side. They had almost a tapering effect up to the stone. There was also a 3-stone that was similar and it was very pretty and SUPER bling-y. Honestly though, for the price ($3060 and likely to rise soon), I'm glad I'm going w/ a Leon piece.
We also tried on eternity bands from JB Star and Sasha Primcek, around 3-carats that were AMAZING. Definitely something I'm getting in the future...they ran about $10,000+. I tried on a couple of Tacori's, Michael B's, and Hearts on Fire. Of all of them, the Mark Patterson was definitely the prettiest.
We then went up to Mark's where I collected my stone. Yay! So excited about it. Mark mentioned that the Mark Patterson reminded him of the Daniel K rosebud setting (which I think OctoberBride2008 has). He mentioned he's made some settings similar to that.
Then Mark walked us across the street and we were off to Leon's!! I was SOOO nervous to meet him (after hearing some stories on here)! I'm not sure who had bad experiences with him, but he was SO nice and very accommodating to us. We were there for over an hour discussing every single possible little detail, why things would and wouldn't work, his recommendations. I think we spent 10 minutes trying to figure out what ring size I should get. He even cracked some jokes with us.
BTW, I showed him a picture of the Mark Patterson and he HATED IT. I told him it was much prettier in person and he said he would have to respectfully disagree!!
Oh, then he brought out some awesome goodies for us to play with! An amazing asscher with some sort of green stones set on the sides, fantastic stacking bands, and then these incredible ruby and pear-shaped diamond earrings. MY MOUTH DROPPED
...I tried them on and LOVED THEM...he tried to convince me to buy them...just slightly out of our budget!
TO DIE FOR
I'm leaving you guys hangin' as to what the final design was but I'm THRILLED with what we came up with. I don't know how I'm going to wait 4-6 weeks.
And that was our trip...I know we were supposed to take pictures of Dani's rings, but we forgot to in all the excitement.
Dani, did I forget anything??? PS-Thanks for being my moral support today!!! Tell Brian he should be proud of you for holding back and not trying on too many things. Next time it'll be all about you!
ETA: The one thing I really took from our meeting was that while Leon SERIOUSLY discourages wearing a wedding band of any kind with an e-ring, he's understanding about people liking that look. I told him I wanted to pair my e-ring w/ a plain platinum band and he said even that will get worn down eventually b/c of the rubbing.
ETA2: CR-I mentioned to Leon that our stone's were from the same cutter and he played dumb about your stone. I was like, you know the 4ct. cushion you have, you talked to her yesterday...he's like I didn't know I had a 4ct. stone and I need to protect my clients' identities (and cracked a smile). SO we didn't get to see your stone or ring.
