BF's and my 5th anniversary is this Saturday. I have NO idea what is going on!! Everything is this big secret, and as much as I appreciate the effort, I hate secrets! I hate being surprised because I'm the kind of person that has to know everything in advance and every little detail. I was okay with not knowing anything, but my BF knows how much the details matter to me, so he's taken to dropping little hints that are driving me up the wall!

I asked if I should get my nails done (because my mani is chipping, and I wanted to know if I should do it myself or get a CND Shellac mani), and his first response was "I'll let you know" haha. Today it changed to "Do your nails yourself today, and get them done next week." I don't even know what to do with that! He told me that my hands wouldn't need to be displayed this weekend, haha.

At this point, I'm convinced that he's given me all kinds of conflicting details so I won't know what which plans are real and which ones are made up. I'm so excited about it, but I can't wait for this weekend to see what's going on!

So exciting! It's really cool that he is planning something so special for you. :)

He could just be throwing you off. Regardless, I would *try* to not get my hopes up too high. I know, it's easier said than done, but just in case - because you want to enjoy your very special anniversary, regardless of whether or not he proposes.

Good luck, and tons of ~*~*~*dust*~*~*~ for you! :)

WooHoo!

Don't get too excited....good plan, KEEP YOUR SELF IN CHECK....but.....

I HAVE A FEELING!!!!

DUST

Either way, he must have something special planned so that's very exciting. Like everyone else said, try not to get your hopes up. It does sound promising though!!

Sounds exciting, I would just do a really good DIY manicure for this weekend and enjoy your 5 year anniversary. Hopefully he's just trying to be tricky and through you off. It sounds like he's putting lots of effort into whatever the two of you are doing, so just sit back and enjoy ;)

happy anniversary! and i hope you have a great weekend :-D

Whatever happens, I hope you have a wonderful 5th anniversary!!!

But just in case - DUST!!!!

Happy anniversary! It does sound like something's up. If he told you to get a manicure it would give things away, so I wouldn't give up hope based on that clue. It sounds like there's a wonderful weekend in store for you. I hope you give us all the details- proposal or not. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

As sure as I was that it was going to be this weekend, I'm pretty sure it's going to be next weekend! He had planned for us to spend some time in New Orleans, but there's a Saints game this weekend, so he thought next weekend would be better. He said something the other day about how his original plans didn't work out, and would I mind going next weekend instead of this one, and I said it was fine. New Orleans is a special place for us, so I'm pretty sure it's going to happen there!

I'm like 200% sure he has the ring already, so no worries there! I'm just excited to spend this time with him! 5 years has kind of flown by!!

I have a feeling Too

Do you know what the ring looks like??

We picked out the ring together, so I have an idea of what it'll look like. But I'm the kind of person that can't visualize it all together! It's Tiffany style prongs (6), half round band. 1.58 J SI1. Platinum. I want to see the whole thing put together so bad!

I'm so excited to celebrate 5 years together! Next Saturday is a special day for us too, 6 years ago he told me he was in love with me that day. The end of August is a very mushy time for us, haha! I'm not holding out much hope for this weekend being the time he chooses to propose. Either way, I'm looking forward to champagne to celebrate something!

Jen: I hope you have a wonderful 5 year anniversary.

DUST and whether the proposal happens this weekend or next, I hope it is just perfect!!!

Look forward to hearing all the fun details and seeing pictures of your ring!! :appl:

So excited for you! Enjoy all of the lovey, mushiness. More ***DUST*** (just in case)

Just wanted to give you all a little update! BF and I had a lovely dinner out for our anniversary last night. We're still BF and GF, in case you were wondering :wink2:

I got an invitation in the mail from him on Friday to join him in formally celebrating our anniversary in New Orleans next weekend. We're going to spend a couple of days there and he's going to take me somewhere fancy to eat. I'm excited, it just feels like it's never going to get here, you know? I had been waiting for our anniversary to come for what felt like forever, and now it's like, "Wait, we aren't REALLY celebrating until next weekend!" He's being very secretive, so I can't wait to see what all he has planned!

ooh that sounds so exciting!!! sounds like he has a great weekend planned!

I was looking forward to this update from you. I have a feeling something very exciting is waiting for you next weekend! :)

I just tried to post something and it took me to my user page when I hit "submit"! Anyone else have this problem? :((

What I TRIED to say before is that my BF told me to bring something "nice" for both Friday and Saturday night, but not "wedding nice." I have no idea what that means! I have nice dress that I wear to weddings, and I have more casual dresses that I dress up with cardigans (I'm always cold!). I really want him to pick out what he wants me to wear. Sounds lame, but he definitely has preferences and I don't want to disappoint by picking out something he doesn't like!

The hotel we're staying at apparently gives out rubber duckies with little top hats with the hotel's name printed on them. I sort of collect rubber duckies, so I told BF I HAVE to have one! He said that he'd already called them about "other stuff". So I said, "Wow, it sounds like you're doing all kinds of stuff behind my back!" and he responded, "You have NO idea!" BF is not into romantic things like I am, so this is all a very big deal, haha. Don't get me wrong, when he's romantic, it's over the top and a total surprise--like the formal invitation for this weekend.

We're staying the same place we stayed for last year's anniversary trip, which is fun. It's a beautiful old hotel, kind of famous for its PB&J social every night. BF doesn't even normally eat PB&J, but he loves that about this hotel. It could be that they also serve hot chocolate, and it's the best hot chocolate ever! What can I say, it's the little things. It's supposed to be haunted too, but we didn't encounter anything last time we were there. I have heard stories about covers being moved and things being seen in mirrors, though!

And my nails! The girl who does Shellac around here ran out of topcoat! This may not sound like a big deal, but it's backordered nationwide, so that means I'm doing my own nails for this weekend. I sure hope I do a good job!

I'm so excited for you jenmarie!! Enjoy your weekend! I hope its everything you're hoping for and more!

That happens to me. I have to log back in (even though I'm already logged in) and it seems to fix it.

Yup, it happens to me too.

Le Pavillion? We're staying there over Labor Day - knowing what I know, I think it could be a very lucky hotel indeed. ;))

DUST!!!

jenmarie I'm sooo excited for you! I can't wait to hear all about it on Monday. My BF is not very romantic either so I can only imagine how you're feeling, it sounds like he's put a ton of effort into this weekend and the "you have NO idea" :D ahhhh I would be sooo excited, you're weekend already sounds amazing from what you know, imagine how awesome it's going to be with additional surprises.

From what he said about wedding fancy dresses, I wouldn't wear any of your dresses that you've worn to a wedding in the past. Go with a classy/casual one, or a cute top with a skirt and heels. As a master at DIY manicures I suggest ESSIE polish, it goes on the smoothest, my favourite is a colour called hearts and tarts, it's a pale pink that looks great after 3 coats. Don't forget to relax and just enjoy yourself while you're there, try not to always have engagement on your mind, maybe have some wine to relax yourself LOL.

Best Wishes ~*~*~ DUST ~*~*~

AHH! Sounds so exciting. That hotel sounds fun..and delicious! I can't wait to hear all the details of your weekend, and see pics of the ring I'm hopeful you'll be coming home with!
Dust!

Sillyberry, yes, it's Le Pavillion! They have a page on Facebook that is hilarious. You can see the rubber duckies there. I don't know if you've been there before, but if you ask the front desk, they have a little packet they can give you about the supposed ghosts there.

OMG Glitz, I can't wait to have a huge glass of wine, haha. I think that might give me the giggles, which I'm already full of at the moment. It hadn't really hit me until today, and now I'm a bundle of nerves.

As for my nails, I used OPI Koala Berry, which is a sort of darkish pink. I usually do a really good job on my nails, so go figure that when they probably need to look awesome they don't! Boo on that. I tried to do a light bridal-looking color, but it really didn't suit me. Mom and BF said that it wasn't "me". BF really wanted me to have pink nails, for whatever reason :)

I just can't wait until it all starts unraveling and I know stuff. This being left in the dark is killing me! He did tell me Saturday night that he had shown his mom the ring, and she said it was gorgeous :D

Ahhh! I'm getting so excited for you!!!
