My friend who is proposing on Friday called me right after he picked up the ring and the jeweler screwed up!!! They "ran out" of 4 prong heads and used a six prong one because they knew that he needed it this week. His girlfriend doesn''t like 6 prongs!!! He ordered the setting more than 2 weeks ago and made it very clear that it needed to be 4 and not 6 even though they tried to push the 6 on him.
I''m so upset! How do you just happen to run out of 4 prong heads? It''s not like they didn''t know they needed one for his!
So, he called me not knowing what to do because not proposing on Friday would really ruin his plan. It''ll be the first day that they''re in their new townhouse and he made reservations at a really nice restaurant so they could celebrate afterwards. He really had his heart set on this date.
The jeweler said that once they get in the 4 prong heads they could have it fixed in 2 days instead of the week or two it would normally take (seriously, though, they should do it immediately for him since it was their mistake!).
So my friend asked me if he should propose with the ring as is and let her know that it can be fixed as soon as the new head comes in or if he should just wait and do it later. I think she would really love the significance of their first day together in their new home marking their engagement date, but I know she''s really going to hate giving up the ring for a few days to have it fixed.
I think my friend is going to go ahead with the plan as scheduled. What do you think he should do?
