so i've asked your opinions already but now its crunch time. wedding is August 12, FMIL leaves for india tomorrow to organise it, every time i choose a necklace they send more pictures but at least now the pictures are getting more similar so they are understanding what i like.

i had chosen this necklace but then got sent pictures of 2 more contenders

and now i've been sent these 2

Now i'm truly torn cos they're all stunning. the second grabs me the most partly cos of the shape of the earrings i feel is nicer than the others and also although i know all 3 can have any color stones the green stones make no. 2 more appealing to me as a redhead. usually the family's jeweller in india make the colored stones interchangeable.

its important i make a good decision cos this stuff is a ridiculously expensive wedding gift from my inlaws that i will be wearing to big events for the rest of my life. probably any daughters i have will be wearing in their future too :P

thanks yennyfire!

I adore the shape of #2. Then #1 and #3 is my least favorite.

I love number 2, I hope you are able to post pics of you in all your splendor, I am looking forward to seeing all this together with the vibrant rich colors of your outfit. :wavey:

in order i like 2,1,3.....all would be pretty i just think from far away the 3rd might get kind of lost in itself

Awwww! These pieces are literally screaming out my name! Would it be tacky to ask a price estimate on these? I mean who wouldn't want to choose between such breathtaking jewelry! I think the second one has a regal look but I also like the first one. Are these pictures of real jewelry or just designs? If I couldn't try them on I think I would choose the second one over the first one as it seems to have more presence and I like my jewelry to stand out. Whichever you choose you're going to look like a real life princess on your wedding day. :appl:

Hmm, they're all so beautiful it's difficult to choose! I'm in the minority right now, but I like the one you chose the best. Then 2, 3.

All are nice but the 1st one you chose is the best.
:appl:

Obviously you cannot go wrong! That said, I love number 2 and have a distinct preference for it. If I were a princess and were able to borrow one of those three among the queen's necklaces for special occasions, that would become the one associated with me! Like other posters, I agree that whichever necklace you choose you should use a (faux) emerald rather than a ruby given your red hair.

This is wonderful!

Thanks everyone I'was leaning towards number 2 so i'm glad thats the general consensous here too.

Rhea it was the shape thats drawing me to number 2 also. especially the shape of the earrings

artdecogirl i will definitely post pics of the final result. i think they will layer me with jewellery until i can't bear any more weight and then ill be ready :P

Niel i'think you're right. i wasn't sure shy i wasn't drawn to number 3 when in theory its similar to number 1

MrsAkin i heard a rumor the necklace would be $50k. needless to say i will never carry it myself or have it in my house. Honestly id be happy borrowing but i have to be careful not to insult anyone so my partner tells me to just go with the flow. the women in the family are really enjoying themselves with all this jewellery

junebug1 and BhavinJ thankyou i do love the first one but the earrings with the second one i feel are a much nicer shape and the design is more striking?

AGBF thanks :) green is definitely my color and one of my bridal sarees will be green i think so it will go well

That's very exciting, hippi_pixi. And you have promised photos. I hope we will be getting them of the entire wedding, not just of your jewelry! We want to see it all, you know!!! We have been anticipating this for a long time with you. What other bridal saris do you have besides the green one?

You can't go wrong with 1 or 2 in green, which I think is best for your colouring. 3 seems out of place to me, design wise.

Are you referring to a necklace and earrings, Chrono, or to other pieces as well? She has shown us other pieces she will be wearing besides the necklace and earrings for which she still must choose the stones, so I am not sure to which you are referring here when you say "3".

I think the necklace and earrings should all have the same color stone and look like a set.

I meant the necklace design set.

I agree with the others - number 2 and green, both. I too, like the shape of the earrings in #2 best. This is so exciting!!! :appl:

Is the wedding belt made of material or metal, and if it is metal, can I have one, too? How is it made? It is the most beautiful piece I ever saw!

This is such an amazing communal tradition, if I understand it correctly. So while the family makes new pieces at each wedding celebration for the bride - and with the design that she favors, it is with the understanding that it will be kept by the family and put away for future weddings? Is this how it works? So I suppose that one day it/they could be inherited, but how is that decided then? Are they split up, or do they stay as one collection, traveling from wedding to wedding?

I've ordered the second design!

AGBF: the belt is mostly white gold and diamonds. the back of the belt is amazingly a flexible sheet of yellow gold! i have put it on a bit of sari fabric for contrast. i will have a look if i have a close up of the front of the belt. and i'm looking forward to posting picture of the wedding

Chrono: interesting question and i'm still a newbie but my understanding is that part of the reason they buy it all is to set up the new couple financially for their married life. i believe everything made for me to wear during the wedding is mine to do with as i wish (eg. i wanted to stick to white gold but my FMIL convinced me to do the back of the belt in yellow gold so i could melt it down and use the gold for something else if i wanted to) the jewellery is mine for life and I'd likely wear it to other weddings and special occasions for many many years. all the women have their own sets so theres no shortage.

i think the jewellery is shared down the the family not necessarily upwards or sideways if that makes sense. they have shown me their collection and said many times this is now yours too, anything you want to wear just say the word and its yours. so despite my very different upbringing i'd be happy to do the same. theres been mention of passing it onto my own future daughters one day

my experience is limited i can only tell you how my partners family seem to do it. my partners family living here in australia consists of him, his brother and his parents, an aunt and uncle with no kids and another aunt and uncle with 2 boys. so I'm the only girl! the 10 of them do however work as one family unit (6 adults 4 kids) sharing parenting duties, money, valuables, everything. not always a great idea in my view... but works great for me as i'm the only girl in our generation and they have a pent up need to mother and spoil a girl :P

Your jewelry pieces are stunning! I like the third one because I like ruby more and I like the design the best.
Recently one of the girl I know got married to the Indian guy. They had wedding in India, and her clothes and jewelry were so spectacular beautiful. The pieces looks amazing. I can't even imagine the cost of them.
Love the headpiece! You are lucky lady!

All three necklace are mesmerizing. But I liked the third one as I can see that the designs of third necklace is a bit matching to your other accessories which you'll be wearing on your wedding day. Anyways I'd like to wish you in Advance A very Happy Married Life.

Best wishes for the D day. :D

This is my first time seeing this thread and all I can say is - WOW! That plus I love the set you've chosen... aside from the fact that it's beautiful  to me it has a bit more gravitas than the other two, and will serve you as well on your 50th anniversary as it does now.

Thank you for explaining some of the tradition that goes with the beautiful jewelry. Best wishes for a wonderful wedding!

My jaw is still on the floor. I think green would look best with red hair. I prefer 1 or 2, but heck I would not say no to 3.

EDIT: Just saw that you picked 2. Congrats!

It would be very interesting to see the photos of made jewellery. :appl:

All the accessories are really beautiful. Which ever you choose, I am sure that you will be more beautiful.
