I''ve been online all morning (as evidenced by my numerous posts) because I am obsessively checking my email and the USPS website! Last week I sent my diamond back to WhiteFlash to upgrade it. I started checking the package tracking online yesterday, because when I mailed it, the guy at the post office said the package would probably get to Houston yesterday or today. Well, according to the USPS website, the package with my diamond arrived in Houston yesterday. They attempted delivery at 5

1 AM this morning, but weren''t able to deliver!

. The website said they left a notice of delievery and the package could either be redelivered or picked up at the post office. I notified Vera at WhiteFlash as soon as read that, and she said that they didn''t get any notice of delievery! Now I''m worried sick!!!!! For one thing, I thought that 5

1 AM seemed like a very peculiar time for the Post Office to be delivering a package! Esecially to a business address. I''m worried that they attempted delivery at the wrong address. I''m almost positive that I addressed the package correctly (I''m obsessive about a lot of things, and I usually double and triple check things, but I could have made a mistake

). I''m afraid now that someone other than WhiteFlash got the notice of delievery, and someone else now has my diamond! I feel like I''m going to cry!

Can''t you call the USPS for tracking info (I know you can see it online, but that only tells you the status, not where it''s going) and verify the recipient''s address? That would be a quick way to know you addressed the package correctly, and at least know they''re not trying to deliver to someone other than WF.

Even if I put the wrong address on it, there is nothing I can do about it now. Once you put something in the USPS system, it''s out of your hands. My only hope is if someone other than WhiteFlash gets the delivery, they will have a conscience and turn it back over to the Post Office and it will get sent back to me. Or they will go ahead and make sure it gets to WhiteFlash. I''m hoping it will need to be signed for. I think it is. I sent it Registered Insured. That''s the only way WhiteFlash will accept deliveries I guess (at least according to their website and the emails they''ve sent me). I''ve sent my diamond to them a couple of other times to have the mounting worked on, and this has never happened before. Something just seems weird about the Post Office trying to deliver something at 5 AM. Has anyone else ever had mail delivered that early? I''ve never heard of such a thing.

I guess my point about the address is to find out whether you accidentally mis-addressed the package, or whether USPS may have left notification at the wrong address. If you addressed it improperly, there may not be much you can do. If the USPS notified the incorrect recipient, then that would be THEIR fault. Perhaps if this is the case it would be caught when the person tried to pick up the package. I''m just wondering if there''s any way you can get more info from your end.

Unfortunately, the only information that the post office will give me is the same info already posted on the tracking page of their website. Apparently, Registered Insured Mail is kept under lock and key until it reaches the final destination. The good new is that somebody has to sign for it on the other end. Hopefully, if the notice is given to the wrong person, and they realize that they have to sign for it and it wasn''t a package meant for them, they will notify the post office and it will be sent back to me.

I''ve contacted Vera and asked if she could call the Post Office on her end and see if there was some mixup, since she emailed me and said that there was no attempted delivery notice on their door this morning. She has the Registration number, because I emailed it to her the same day that I sent the package. I''m just going to be sitting here going crazy until I find out what''s going on. I keep checking my email like every 30 seconds to see if Vera has emailed me! I told you, I''m obsessive!!!!!

Yikes, I would be nervous, too. I hope you find out where your diamond is very soon!

OK, good news! I just got home from picking the kids up from school, and the first thing I did was check my email...Vera had emailed while I was gone, and my diamond arrived! I am sooooo relieved! Now I just have to wait while the appraiser verifies it or whatever, and the next step is upgrade...whoo hoo!

your upgrading your stone???? details, details, how did i miss this news?

Because I hadn''t posted it yet..lol. I was kind of embarassed, because I''ve only had the other stone a few weeks. It isn''t even an upgrade of my original ering (I had that one remounted in WG a few months ago). I missed having a yellow gold solitaire, so I bought a half carat from WhiteFlash. I''m already upgrading
20.gif
. It''s not really that much bigger even. I''m kind of following Jellybean''s lead and going from a .53 to a .74. My original ering was slightly under 3/4 of a carat, and I was just used to that size diamond on my finger I guess. I know there probably isn''t that much difference, but the jump from 1/2 to 3/4 carat was just too noticable for me.

I am taking a leap of faith and going with an SI2 stone this time. I''ve never had one any lower than VS clarity, so I''m a little nervous about that. Bob and WF says it''s a beautiful stone, and I am trusting his judgement on this.

Even if I am not 100% thrilled, hopefully I won''t have it for all that long. I was ultimately shooting for around 1.0 carat or slightly above, and thought I''d do the stepping stone upgrade thing like Mara is doing. After I told my husband that I was upgrading to the 3/4 carat, he admitted to me that he was planning to get me a 1.5 carat stone next summer for our 15th anniversary! How sweet is he? I wasn''t really thinking of a stone that big, but I''m getting used to the idea already...
2.gif
. He had the whole thing planned out. He said 10 points for every year we''d been married. I asked him if we make it to 30 years, does that mean I get a 3 carat honker...he just kind of laughed nervously and said something like "if I live that long...".

Well YAY - I''m glad they have received your stone and put you out of your misery!!! Putting something so valuable in the mail always makes my heart flutter till I know it''s arrived.

Can''t wait to see the upgrade! Keep us posted.

well good for you. i''m sure your stone will look incredible, i''ve worked with Bob and he''s the best.

sounds like you''ve been bitten by the pricescope bug

i used to just want a new setting, then i wanted a 1.5 nothing bigger, now i might accept a 2 carat if you twist my arm...poor hubby, he should hurry up or who knows where i''ll end up

I''m glad it turned up safely at Whiteflash!

And I can''t wait to see your new stone...how exciting!

I''m glad WF received your stone!

I was a wreck when I send my original e-ring there and then the 0.55ct back for the 0.72ct so I totally know how you felt!

I''m sorry to be such a bad influence!
11.gif
I promised my hubby that I would stop looking at diamonds, but WF has this 1.04ct J/SI1 that I am totally drooling over!
18.gif
I''ve always wanted a 1ct diamond but I really can''t suggest that to him now after getting an upgrade in less than a week! He would kill me! I love the 0.72ct, don''t get me wrong.....but....

Sjz, glad to hear your diamond made it to Whiteflash safely.

Thanks everyone. It helped relieve the anxiety even to post about it! This is the third time I''ve sent my diamond to WF, and every time I''m spastic until I know it''s there safely. I still can''t figure out why the Post Office tried to deliver the package at 5AM??? That seems like a really odd time to deliver a package to me. I wonder if it was a mistake? Vera at WF said that they hadn''t seen any notice of attempted delivery on the door. Oh well, other than a few REALLY stressful hours on my end, no harm done. Now all I have to stress about is whether or not I will like an SI2 stone! Or even and H color. I know I''m going to like the size, because I already have that size and I love it. I guess if I wasn''t obsessing about a diamond, I''d find something else to obsess about

i hate mailing diamonds or jewelry, that is the only thing that is a downer about the online process IMO. i dont feel like anything expensive is safe floating around out there for 3-7 days regardless of assurances.

stepping stone upgrades are dangerous too! now i am thinking...well Val''s calculation/equation said that I could have a 4c stone for my finger....so now I am thinking..well why stop at a 3c? maybe get something like a 3.40c?

If I get the 1.5 carat next year, that will probaby be the end for me. I''m not really thinking I''d want anything bigger. I''d rather put future upgrade money into buying another different stone of a different shape. I can see myself with a 1+ carat pear shaped diamond pendant with a pave halo someday.

I have a SI2 and before we owned this I had a VS2. I can tell a difference only where the inclusion is on mine. I actually like this MORE than clearer because I can identify my stone so easily now. Its a relief to me and helpful to the jeweler who polishes the ring for me in back, he likes that I am able to ID my own ring, apparently several can''t.

I do kind of like the idea of having a teensy visible inclusion, kind of a birthmark thingy, to identify my stone. The diamond I''ve had now for over 10 years only has one visible inclusion, which is a tiny clear one near the edge of a facet. It''s super hard to find, and sometimes I can''t find it at all. That''s made me kind of nervous a time or two when I''ve had to leave it at the jeweler, once to have the mounting resized and another time to have it reset. I obsessed about whether or not it''s my diamond until I find the inclusion every time I have a jeweler work on my ring. Funny story...once I had a bent prong, so I took my ring to the jeweler to have the prongs tightened up and straightened out. He only had the ring for a couple of hours. When I picked it up it looked ok, but when I got it home and louped it more thoroughly, I saw a huge black inclusion on the girlde that I''d never seen before in all the years I''d had the diamond!!!! I was so freaked out, I was sure than they had switched out my diamond for another one. Especially since it was one of those days when I was having a hard time seeing my "birth mark" clear inclusion. I took a few deep breaths and decided not to panic. I put my ring in the sonic cleaner and cleaned it really well, and louped it again. WHEW! The black inclusion was gone. It must have been a speck of dirt or a stray bit of solder or something. And I finally found my inclusion, so I knew it was my diamond after all.

A smallish inclusion that I have to jam the diamond up to my eyeball to see probably won''t bother me. But if it''s a big black one that I can spot the second I look at the diamond from a distance of more than a few inches might....

Mine is something very easily hidden under a prong, but I choose to have it slightly off the side of a prong, it''s almost half covered I guess. As long as I can see it and my laser inscription (exactly across from that) Im ok. And I can read it and have it memorized. I have a 30x for the inscription if I need it, I can see my inclusion without anything because I know what to look for.
