Old setting - can I repurpose it?

I recently decided to reset my .75 oval into a halo setting (seen on right) after my old setting (left) had a broken prong and needed more gold added to the shank. I had just spent $$ on maintenance 7-8 years ago, so I thought it would be interesting to reimagine the design a bit. (Original rings are from '97. I loved them but always wished for 4 prongs vs 6 to help maintain the oval shape...but those prongs definitely saved the diamond when one broke!)

I'm enjoying the simplicity of my new ring but am sentimental about my old rings. They are fused together. When I thought about resetting options my jeweler said baguettes chip a great deal in the process of removing them. Nevertheless, I thought I'd see if anyone had ideas on what could be done with them. Thank you for your thoughts!

Me, I’d change the head out (that’s the prongs) to suit a new gem and set a coloured gem into the ring.
Changing the head means you can put any shape gem in.
That would make for a fabulous right hand ring.
Theres good money invested in the setting and stripping the diamonds out and reusing the gold to make something from scratch wouldn’t be as cost efficient.

yep good plan.
@Lilibet7397 post a side view pic so we can confirm its a peg head but it sure looks like it.

Thank you! Here is the side view. Would the size of the new stone need to be .75 carat (or would smaller work), and do the "wraparound" bands on either side make an oval the best choice, since the original was oval? I suppose a round would be fine as well. Thanks again.20211012_135734.jpg

Yep peg head so it can be replaced for not a huge amount of money.
With peg heads you can get them for any size and shape pretty much.
The constraint is matching the rest of the ring and fitting in the space.

You are not limited in the shape you need to use for the new stone. An emerald cut would look very cool with the baguettes, but I imagine you'd want to be more cost effective since this is to be a right hand ring. A colored gem would look very nice in there, perhaps one as long as the three pieces are wide? Perhaps a spinel or tourmaline?

Update us when you decide what to do with your rings!

Thank you very much. I love the emerald cut - what a fun idea. I'll definitely update this thread with a pic!

A quick update:
I just made an update to the ring with an emerald-cut sapphire. Pictures are below! My husband had this made as an anniversary gift. I am pleased to have my original rings back; an antique jeweler helped him with the setting and finding an older gemstone that would fit. I'm grateful for your help and good suggestions! Thanks so much!

(A note on the side view - I had the jeweler adjust the prongs a bit to make sure they were as flush with the stone as possible, resulting in a little irregularity in the appearance from the side, I've noticed. I believe the original head was platinum, new one is white gold.)
