Argh! I just got engaged less than 2 weeks ago, my wedding is not for another 1.75 years. We''ve done no planning...But I can''t stop looking at dresses. The problem is that I fell in love with this one dress. Unfortunately, it''s a discontinued style. I found it online in 3 places - ebay, http://www.glennandcompany.com, and http://www.bridepower.com.

I don''t really have time to start hard-core dress shopping until February or March. What are the chances that I''ll still be able to get this if it turns out that I don''t love anything else as much?

I know, I know, I haven''t even tried it on yet

If you really like the dress, perhaps you can find a seamstress who will make it for you. I found a site on line, it''s called www.bridechalet.com and they do custom work at reasonable prices.

Good luck!

You can never tell by looking at a dress - how exactly it will look on you.
Go out and try some on. This will help you get a better idea of what will work for you.
You''ll be surprised; I sure was!
Try not to fixate on one picture of a dress.

Scintillating...

That dress is really beautiful, though I might do what Clarygrace says. If the time comes, and you still think the style suits you, have someone make it.

BTW, that is a great website! I''ve been looking at it for the past half hour. Now I want my dress custom made

It is always wise to go out and try some dresses to see what looks good on your body.

I know I have to try things on.

But what are the chances this gown (which is discontinued and people are selling off their samples of now) will still be available (samples) in a few months?

I started dress shopping when I was at your stage. Go try it on. If it "the one", you will know. If you want it, buy it. Don''t take a risk on something as central and personal as your gown.

Just me, but I htink that style is easily duplicated and since you might not love it on, you should get a sense. If you like the style, you can then have it made. I think unless you can return it I would not buy on line unless I knew it would fit for sure.

Hey Basil,

Do any of the distributors mentioned above (except ebay, of course) have a return policy? Would that work for you if you got the dress then decided it really wasn't for you?

ETA: I just looked at bridepower.com. Their website says they have a return policy...maybe you could talk to them?
