I know that including maps, directions with traditional invitations is not something that should be done (I know people do include them with the invites in some cases, but in my situation the paper doesn''t match and the invitations are very high end and the maps etc aren''t..), so thinking I''ll send these separate. But how do I go about doing that--just stick them in an envelope and send? Or do I have to have some sort of intro note?
Thanks.

Mmm...tough one.

I''ve never received a separate mailing with this type of information, but see your point re. the paper.
Is there a way you could get matching envelopes for the maps, etc. and include the envelope with the invite and write "additional info" on the outside? paper still wouldn''t match, but it wouldn''t be as obvious if it was inside an envelope.

If it were me I would just send them together and set the directions apart somehow- maybe wrap with some coordinating paper as a belly band, or with a coordinating ribbon?
Can you have a local printer, Kinko''s etc. print the directions on a coordinating high quality paper?
If the invites are white/ivory maybe even use a colored paper in one of your wedding colors.
If you do mail separately I''d imagine you would want some type of note with it, such as "looking forward to celebrating with you, please find enclosed directions,..."
but just make sure you don''t mail them at the same time so that they''re certain to have gotten the invite first.

Do you need to include the maps/directions at all? Most of the weddings I''ve gone to have simply included the address, and I''ve used mapquest to get there (even my parents manage to do this). In general, hotels should be easy to find, or people can ask the hotel for directions (if OOT guests are going there first). Often directions from the hotel to the venue are given to guests when they check in at the hotel, or directions from the church to the reception are included with the program at the church.

Obviously if the directions are very complex or include things off the beaten path (try mapquest and make sure it directs you to the right place), you''ll need to include maps, but I would guess you''re probably fine without them. If anyone were to call for directions, you could go ahead and send it to them.

If you do decide to send directions, I like the idea of putting them in a little envelope or folder that matches the invitation and including them with it. Sending them separately just seems like a lot of extra and unnecessary work.

We just put everything for our wedding on our "wedding website" and included the address with our Save the Dates. We''re posting maps, restaurant suggestions, hotel suggestions, transport, etc. on the website.

We are planning on sending the same content, but on paper, to the 2 people on our invite list who don''t really use the internet. Otherwise it''s soooo much easier to have it all online for everyone since most people are internet savvy these days.

I just wrote a quick note to the few "hard copy" people saying that we''re hapy they''re joining us and that we thought the enclosed information might be helpful as they planned their trip. We''re sending them separately from the invites but at the same time.

Hope that helps!

This is what we did as well. And then you can put hard copies in the OOT bags.
