My girlfriend and I have been looking for a diamond for some time. She has narrowed it down to the following criteria,
  • Cushion cut
  • Close to ideal cut (thus the draw to August Vintage)
  • Close to 1ct
  • Price of ~$5500

We're going for the best color and clarity that we can get for that price. I've been searching good old gold for a while, and I finally came across this guy today,

Can someone give me their opinion on it? It seems like a great deal with the "Winter Diamond Sale" and it fits all of our check boxes. Is there something that I'm missing or should at least be aware of?

Thanks!

This is a beautiful stone that I've suggested to another Pricescope user.

Someone is going to snatch it up soon.

I wouldn't hesitate for a second!

Very pretty! If she's ok with the K color, put it on hold right away.

put it on hold & then compare the color -- preferably in person.
The stone looks beautiful!

So pretty! As long as you're comfortable with the K color, I think it's a great choice.

Agree with everyone.

Please be very sure she likes K color, and she will not be self-conscious if her friends comment on the yellowness.
Many people do not like that much color in a diamond and can be unkind with their comments.

Some owners have thick skin, others thin.

I am not in any way putting down K color.
Every color is equally perfect for those who like it.

I'm a new user but thought I might chime in since I'm in the same boat. My boyfriend and I are in the process of buying a ring as well, but due to how picky I am he's letting me take the charge of choosing. :)

Originally I wanted a colorless cushion diamond, and was not willing to sacrifice ideal cut or clarity. My boyfriend doesn't want to sacrifice carat size (he wants at least one carat). However, we have about the exact same budget as you do and realized that we couldn't have all "perfect" C's, and so we had to sacrifice one.

After looking around, I decided upon the August Vintage cushion as it's an ideal vintage style cut, and after looking through numerous (GORGEOUS) AVC's, I realized plenty of PSers had AVCs in warmer colors, as it adds to the vintage, warmer look of many antique diamonds. The more and more I saw them, the more and more I LOVED warmer color AVC's. From what I've seen, AVC's in the K-O range still face up mostly white or a creamy white, and IMO give off more beautiful, pastel colors than colorless do. And, if you go with a warmer color, they tend to be much more affordable without sacrificing carat, cut, or clarity. Point being, a K should face up mostly white and give off just slightly warmer flashes of light. If you think she would be OK with that, then go for it! The stone is beautiful. But, if you can see it in person or they can send you a video, I would highly recommend it.

Love it!!!

Hello, I just bought a 1.33 AVC K color.. I cannot see any tint.. true.. maybe a bit sideways.. but mine is in a pendant. I've had D color diamond, G color and now this K.. without a a doubt the K is the most beautiful stone.. and if faces up totally white.. mine, as you can see is in a basket setting.. Best of luck. (I paid a chunk more than 6K :) I would highly recommend a K color AVC
