Opinion on a round diamond from JA.

Hi,

I've been trawling on the forums for about a month now trying to read up and learn about diamonds.

The diamond I've put on hold is
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1344687.asp.. I'm getting them to physically look at it to make sure it's eye clean (I think there is a feather on the crown...but I don't think it's visable to the eye).

Do you guys think it's a good one to go for (assuming its eye clean) or is there something I'm missing and I should keep searching? On the HCA, it's about a 1.8. Price wise, about 4k is my limit.

Any thoughts, opinions would be appreciated!

Nope, ASET is only provided for fancy shape, not round.

I know its not necessary but since JA provides it why not, two positive confirmation is better than one, just a mind thing!
BGD, WF, GOG and HP provide both and some extra to give buyers more confidence when buying blindly on internet. Just saying, but of course OP doesn't need to if he doesn't want.

Ahhh, sorry SC for misreading your message! My bad! You can see how often Im hanging around RT!

Its JA's bad not to provide ASET for round too since they do have Asetscope. They would not gain consumers with this kind of policy.

Well, they are serving a much larger customer base than other vendors. Allowing both IS and ASET request for all stones will probably increase their workload and make turn around time for the request much longer.

and this is the reply I meant to post - if you mean the difference between the hues of pink - the brighter pink under the crown vs the more purple colour under the table - just an artifact of photographing & printing the pic for webpage, no problem with the stone.

The stone was tilted in photographing through the scope - can see how the culet looks very offcenter? hence the 'leakage' at 4oclock - just another artifact.
