Hi Everyone,

I thought I found a good diamond before but the light performance was bad. I recently found this diamond that looks good but considering I thought the other one was good... I do not trust my judgment. How does this one look? Thank you for the help!

It is a round 1.7 H color, VVS2 Excellent Cut. Screen Shot 2021-01-28 at 9.41.13 AM.pngScreen Shot 2021-01-27 at 3.21.31 PM.pngcert.jpeg

I’m shocked no one has replied to this yet! Is it GIA graded? It’s interesting because the first image looks like it’s either a blurry image or leaky... yet the 2nd image looks good.

Missed this so glad it got bumped. I like the 2nd image but am also surprised because the still doesn't look as good.

Right?!! Glad you posted!

@flyingpig can you weigh in on why the still picture looks good but not great (to my eye) but the arrows image looks better (e.g. I expected leakage)?

Thank you! Yeah, the scope image looks really nice and the proportions are amazing as well. When I put the proportions into the HCA tool it says it will have excellent fire/scintillation. I am not sure though.

Are you talking about this?

Yes... is that "leaky" or blurry?

I think it is due the combination of diamond's tilt, how the images are taken and processed, the camera being too close to the diamond casting too much shadow, and the diamond being shallow/shallow within the ideal range.
Look at JA True Hearts and rotate the diamonds. You may see similar behavior.

Or JA providing wrong IS image, which almost never happen.

Btw, 34/40.6 almost never has significant leakage issue. It can be constrasty though.

That plus the dark "shafts" between arrows, the black between the arrows towards the center, and the darkness at the point of the arrows at 3,9, and 11 o'clock.

Thank you for your insight! So do you think this Diamond is a good option to consider?

Those indicate the black camera body is too close. After the arrows, the greens around the arrowheads and around the table reflection and the arrowshafts' base are the first to become dark.

The video on the site looks great! Personally I think this will be a really nice stone!

@flyingpig is correct its the result of that particular combo being very over obstructed in the photo.
Only way you would see it at home like that is if you took a pic with a black phone real real close.

I am sorry. I am still a bit confused. Will the diamond have excellent fire/brilliance in person? Or is it not that good?

Makes sense, thanks!
