I wasn’t suppose to be looking for green stones but then this popped up on my Etsy account of “things you might like.” I would love opinions on it. I have requested more images and a video.

I’m not looking for anything specific, this one just caught my eye.

I like it. It's small, though. I think it's fairly priced given the closing of the mines. I only buy gems when I have an idea of what to do with it, or if I'm afraid I'll never see the like again. To me, this is not one of those gems, even though the cut is nice and price is right.

Small however good cutting and colour, and good price too, I like it!

Wish I had the money to spare, otherwise I would snap it up myself!

DK :))

You guys are a bad influence!
This one is a little larger but the color doesn’t speak to me the same. More thoughts? Can you teach me what I’m not seeing here?

given the closing of the mines.

I’m kinda a history nerd. Can you tell me more? Or direct me where to read more? I love it when a beautiful gem has more to it.

They seem to be pushing the limits of the color range - especially the second posting. Those feel more “mint” than “tsavorite” to me.

I'm basing this on the information from the article. I haven't heard anything about the Scorpion mines opening again, so I guess to a certain extent it's conjecture on my part. I think someone had purchased a tsavorite from Bruce Bridges last year and said it was old stock, so not newly mined.

For even earlier history you can get a lot of good info directly from tsavorite.com.

He always has such pretty stones! As others said, it is small. Find something that size or draw a 4.8mm square so you can see the size.

Thank you. While it it is the color and right price per ct... you're right. It is small. Tiny. It would leave me wishing for more. I will be back with more questions! Thanks!

For tsavorite, the origin doesn’t make a difference in price

I wouldn’t call it “neon. “I do like the tone, as I really can’t stand overly dark tsavorite, But this one is just a tad bit to yellowish for me. I prefer more bluish green tsavorite.

Both are light in tone and saturation. Both are also leaning yellow (olive) rather than straight green.

For me it is a perfect colour tsavorite. Tsavorite is very hard to photograph and they looks better in IRL.
