Opinions on Bloomingdale's Fine Jewelry Line

Hello PSers, hope you had a great Labor day weekend! Have you shopped on any Labor day sales ? Talking about that... I was wondering if anyone has purchased jewelries from Bloomingdales? They seem to have a find jewelry line by themselves, and some designs look nice. I am eyeing on a couple pieces, but I am not sure about their quality. Unfortunately I don't have any Bloomingdales around to look in store, so I wonder if anyone has any experience with them and can you share your thought? I live near one, and they had a 60% off diamond jewelry sale last year. Maybe in January? Who knows, they may do this more than once a year. An honest sales rep might be able to clue you into their sales schedule.

The pieces looked lovely, but I was only browsing.

Don’t buy unless deeply discounted. Their regular prices on their diamond pieces are ridiculous for what you are getting. If you have to buy from them, get it when it’s 50% plus an extra 10% or 20%. I think you will have good luck in their designer pieces when on sale, such as Marco Bicego or Roberto Coin.

I would not shop at Bloomingdale’s or any other department store for fine jewelry. Too many PS vendors to access that specialize and generally have much better prices.

Nostalgia. I worked in Bloomingdale's jewelry department for nearly a year. Only filled in sometimes in Fine, as they had trained saleswomen, but I had a good background from shopping with my mother so I covered on occasion. Of course that was forty years ago! It was pretty generic stuff.
