Opinions on resetting a pear diamond with a local jeweler

I have a pear diamond that I would like set in a new ring. James Allen is having a 25% sale at the moment and has several settings I like. How difficult would it be to order a setting and have my pear set by a local jeweler? I'm concerned about the fit of the diamond. My stone has an EGL certificate. Would the measurements be accurate enough for me to order a setting and have someone set the pear? Or would I be better off just dealing with someone local for everything and not ordering a setting myself? I want to spend no more than $1000 and want the setting to be platinum.

I'm not sure if JA sells their settings loose. Have you asked them?

This is under FAQ on their website:
For all other designs, you can complete your order through our online shopping cart. When you check out with just a setting (and not a diamond), please provide us with the exact shape and millimeter dimensions of your diamond so we can include properly sized prongs.

That's good to know. I do think they should be able to get the dimensions close enough that another jeweler should be able to set them.
Is it the optimal situation...well, no but prevents you from having to send your stone in.

How big is your stone? I had JA set my pear. They did an awesome job. They do charge $100 for setting a stone, which you wouldnt be
charge, and another $100 for the setting if its bigger than 7mm.
