Or

I know Burmese command a price premium, but what is the groups thoughts on these two?

Both have slight asymmetry (not the end of the world, hide it with a bezel!). I prefer the color of the 2 ct, but it also has a more obvious window.

If you buy either of these -
I would love to hear what you thought of the buying experience and the stone itself.
:)

Do you have experience with this seller?

Would you be okay with a stone on the darker side? Both of these appear dark in tone in the hand pics and on the lab reports. If accurate, it might mean that is low light situations, the stone doesn't return much light but just reads as "off." Some people don't mind this in some stones - in fact, my very favorite blue sapphire does just this - but its something to think about in case it would bother you.

This is a potential concern. Would want to see in natural light. May ultimately end up going for a good saturation cornflower. Of course with Burmese stones they do tend to run darker. Perhaps a Sri Lankan stone may make more sense for a lighter blue and less expensive stone.

Both look very dark to me so I would be wary

I think they will be dark and undersaturated a little.

Odd that the first one has the Burma origin on the less reputable report.

Second one with no origin report and seems to have a window.

The main selling point is the "royal blue" and GRS seems to be generous with color descriptors. I have learned that it is not a proxy for beauty. It does help to commoditize color along the lines of GIA diamond grading; however, it is remarkably less helpful, imo.

I have communicated with this seller years ago on a lower-budget item but never made a purchase. He has a big eBay presence under the same handle.

No 1 is too dark I feel and has no “vividness” so it will be even darker once set. And the huge “bottom” is carat weight you can’t see.
No 2 is a nicer colour and tone, it is more vivid. Again it has carat weight beneath the girdle.
I wouldn’t get “hung up” on origin, it’s all well and good that they are unheated Burmese but if they aren’t great examples why pay the premium?
Personally Id recommend choosing the sapphire, not the origin. And if being heated (certified as heat only) isn’t an issue, you’ll get more sapphire for your $$$$.

Thanks all. Thoughts on this one:

My initial reaction is that its pretty dark, and vendor photos usually show things at their best (so it may be even darker IRL)

Re: Jupiter Gem
Yes you can see the shadow from the stone on the surface it’s sitting on, so you know it’s being hit with bright light.

My experience with this company ( 2 stones, kept one returned one)
- return policy is great and easy
- they are also great with additional hand photos in multiple lighting environments
- they run sales occasionally, so you know that same percentage off is an easy starting point to think about with their “make an offer“ button.
