Just curious what folks think of this diamond, I keep coming back to it. I want an emerald step cut.
I know it is brown-ish. That is fine - I like warm diamonds. I have searched in threads trying to find pointers in how to choose an emerald and it seems it is pretty much a visual appreciation. Any pointers are welcome.

I’m not much help having bought my first EC a month ago. However IF clarity is very exciting, how amazing to possibly own an internally flawless stone.

My EC is an M with light brown and it is gorgeous in every way and surprises me with the most amazing rainbow flashes.

Thank you for answering and your opinion. I have heard that low color steps can seem more colorful with flashes. I am here for it. I did show hubby, who liked the unmentionable better. This stone is probably close in color to your M, being an L.

An IF is pretty mind clean :D. I also love warm stones.

I was buying this to wear with white gold and blue sapphire band, I am thinking the brown would not play as nicely as the higher color unmentionable in white gold. However, the clarity and colored flashes are my highest priority.

Oh, do you have a thread or post of your new EC? I missed it and would love to see it!

Right, I actually have a blue sapphire eternity band and I don’t wear it with my EC because in some lighting the tint is not so complimentary. So if you get the earth-mined you will want to check it out with the sapphire band in every possible lighting environment.

I don’t have a specific thread for the EC, it’s kind of sprinkled here and there on PS.

You can see some pictures in this thread #4550

And this thread # 5131

Thanks, I did try to click and follow your profile to not bug you for it, but it is turned off. I didn't want you to think I was being lazy :D

Your pictures were super helpful, not only could I fall in love with your ring (thanks for that) but love the low color in white gold. I was not sure how that would play out but I am great with it!

Yes, I wasn’t totally sure about white gold with the lower color but it has grown on me. One thing is that this cut definitely shows any dirt or smudges, so if you tend to be OCD about your diamonds being clean it might drive you crazy. I just wipe mine off when I see something on the table and throw it in the ultrasonic regularly.

I love this stone! I adore warm stones, and this one looks lively and well cut.

Any chance you can get an ASET Image? Lets see if @Karl_K can give his thoughts.

Thanks for the shout out to Karl. Unfortunately, this vendor usually cannot provide ASET photos. I don't want to say which one :)

This is what I see too, as I continue to select it each time when moving through inventory. I don't trust myself completely though. Also on the possibilities list in a larger, higher color unmentionable type diamond. However, I think they have clarity issues when compared to earth grown (or maybe just my brain playing tricks). My husband likens it to glass vs crystal. I love labs for some cuts, but maybe not a step cut.

Large table, lowish crown and the imaging is inconclusive, I think im seeing a lot of leakage but would not be super shocked to see an aset or other images disprove that.

Thanks @Karl_K I will give it a go and see if I can get an ASET.
Not holding my breath though.

EDIT: Is there a "safer" crown height I should look for?

Hi. I also love the way the white gold looks with the warmer stone.
I have a question about the ultrasonic. Is there a certain mixture that you put in it?
I have an old ultrasonic and am starting to get more interested in using it again.

I love my ultrasonic - use diluted Simple Green - lemon scent in my ultrasonic and love the results.

A lot depends on the overall combination.
In general 14%+ this one is around 10-12
I have recommended diamonds with that ch before but everything else has to be perfect.

@babs23r, I use Simple Green in the ultrasonic, currently out of that so using good old Dawn.

Thanks for that, very helpful in the selection if I don't go for this one.

I was cleaning a cpap the other day with a weak solution of Dawn and a tiny bit of vinegar - my diamond was amazing :D.

Not that anyone wants to smell vinegar in an ultrasonic :D.

Do you remember the proportions of dawn to vinegar?
My mom had a cpap, so that sounds familiar...
I use vinegar and water for a lot of cleaning. Works great!
Everything smells like a salad!!!!

@babs23r just like a usual pan for washing dishes (hot sudsy water) and I added a cup of vinegar.

I bet you could use a bowl of hot water, a dash or Dawn and a couple of capfuls of vinegar to great outcomes, along with an old toothbrush. No pearls of soft gemstones though. Vinegar eats pearls.

Thank you! Sounds like something easy to try!

Love that color, I think it's a beautiful EC. But don't go by me, listen to Karl.
If there's a good return policy . . .

I am leaning in that direction. I dropped into my local jeweler this afternoon to look at setting options and they used a 1 ct EC for a dummy stone. They also had a 1.5. I preferred the 1ct.

I hope I don't have to give up my PS card now.
