Opinions on this Asscher

I’m learning about asschers and have read a ton of PS posts. As I scour the various diamond websites, I’m testing myself to see dead spots, leakage, etc. as I learn more and more. I found an Asscher this morning that has me perplexed. Aside from the inclusion, this Asscher looks good to me. I’m not seeing any leakage or dead spots. I like the small table and overall shape.

I’d love to get opinions from @Karl_K and the other Asscher experts. Unfortunately, there’s no ASET available. What do you all think about this one?

Here are the GIA specs:
0.93 cts
5.41 x 5.27 x 3.65 mm
Color E
Clarity SI1
Depth 69.2%
Table 54%

Here’s the video:

Nice big corners (hard to find) and windmills.
Slightly small for the carat weight.
No persistent dark zones.
The inclusion will be visible just for people who can focus closer than 30cm 12 inches.

it appears to be well cut but not eye clean.
the crown height is a real plus.

NOT an expert but as an Asscher lover, I think that inclusion is Cindy Crawford's mole. If you're clarity sensitive or it's your first diamond, it might drive you nuts. But if you're open to the idea, order it and see how it feels. I think it's very beautiful.

I love it!!!

@Garry H (Cut Nut) — will do. I’ll report back if I get it.

@Ibrakeforpossums —love your description. I was completely cracking up. I tend to like includions, depending where they are.

@lovedogs — thanks for the opinion! It’s comforting to know I’m on the right track!

So I couldn’t resist and I bought it! It was priced really well because of the inclusion, which may or may not bother me. I love the wide windmills and high crown… I just had to see it in person. I’ll keep you all posted and add pictures when I get it. I bought it from James Allen but it’s coming from a facility in Israel so it’s going to take a few weeks to receive. The anticipation is already killing me…

Good for you, not passing this up. I can't wait to read your reaction and see photos. Every time I looked at the video I said Damn!

Alright folks, bringing you along on my journey. I just received the Asscher today in a simple knife edge setting.

There’s only clouds and rain where I live right now so between the weather and my amateur hour photography, I did what I could with pictures. Let me know if another angle or light would be helpful to evaluate. I have video — need to figure out how to upload it. Note the last shot is through my very dirty loupe (that ick is not inclusions).

Is the step around the center showing some leakage and/or is center a little dead? What other pros/cons are you seeing? It looks pretty sparkly to me but I want to “live with it” a bit more — see it in different light, etc.

Calling on @Garry H (Cut Nut) , @Karl_K , @whitewave , @lovedogs , @Ibrakeforpossums , @musicloveranthony , and anyone else with thoughts — I’d love input! Thanks all!

I think this should link to the video — let me know if the link doesn't work.

The best lighting for diamonds is cloudy day under a broad leaf tree!
My question was can you see the inclusion with naked eye (if you wear spces - then you normal spacs.
And we need to know your closest focus ability:
Take a ruler or tape measure and hold one end betewwn your eyes. Run your finger along until you loose just focus. The measure tells me a lot. for some people it is 8 inches, for others it is 18 inches.

Looks as expected to me so far.
Back the camera away for a more real life picture and video.
The center is flashing on and off as expected.

Thanks, @Garry H (Cut Nut) ! Ok, so I seem to lose focus around 16“/17”. I can see the inclusion if i bring it up close to my eye and I’m looking for it, otherwise, the sparkle of the facets seems to hide it pretty well from a normal range. Obviously, the inclusion is quite visible in a heartbeat under a basic loupe.

OK, your pretty long sighted - you may need to take photos of menus and enlarge them soon hahahaha
But I guess what you are saying is you can just manage to focus much closer than 16 inches and see the inclusion - do you know how far away that would be?

@Garry H (Cut Nut) — Oh geez, I think I read too fast and misunderstood you. It’s been quite a day. I can focus about 7” from my eye. In terms of the inclusion, I’ve been staring at the ring so long now, that I suspect I’m “seeing” the inclusion as a mind game more than it actually being present. I suspect that if I let it be and come back to it in a couple hours, I likely couldn’t find it.

@Karl_K — thanks for guidance on the photos. I’m clearly new at this. Let me attempt some new pics tomorrow when I have a little daytime cloudy skies back.

Hi Django, So you can focus from 7 inches - so i expect you should be able to see the inclusion without louping it first (especially because you know roughly where it is).

This is what I put out there - would love you to find someone who can't focus as close up and test my judgement :)

I love a good experiment — I’ll find someone and test your theory! The inclusion is front and center so I also want to make sure it’s appropriately considered. If we (temporarily) take the inclusion out of the mix for a moment, any thoughts or concerns about the cut? I’ll also get more pics tomorrow per Karl K’s guidance.

The inclusions don’t seem to be a big deal to me. What do you think?

I feel the same way about it — I’m more sensitive to other aspects (like areas turning dark when they shouldn’t). However, I also haven’t given it a good run under various lighting and viewing conditions to make sure that the inclusion isn’t more visible (and therefore potentially bothersome) so I value and want to consider Garry H’s input until I feel like I’ve put the stone through it’s paces since I received it so late in the day.

don't forget the broad leaf tree on a cloudy day:

You heard from the people who know what they're talking about so I'll weigh in. This diamond has a beautiful bright center that doesn't shut off and lovely sides with no areas of darkness that persist. It has me. Look at it under many different lighting conditions to see if it enchants you. Asschers are so individual but this one seems really worthy of consideration.
As i said, that center has me.

More pictures are forthcoming... silly things like work is getting in the way of important things like diamonds... though I suppose it's necessary for obvious reasons. I'll post some pics in a bit.

With fresh, less over-analytical eyes, the black inclusion is visible starting around 9" away in average indoor lighting. Otherwise, I can't see it with my untrained eye.

if you lock your hand 12 inches from your eyes can you see it - That was my estimate.
Like - start at 19 inches and come in from there to 12 inches .
sorry - this is really annal!

Please tell me where it is, I can't see it.
If you want to live on a farm, I have one. I'll take good care of it.

Ok! I’m back with a few more pictures for @Karl_K ,@Garry H (Cut Nut) , @Ibrakeforpossums and others to comment. I‘m in a leg cast so getting pictures outside under a tree is proving to be super tricky. Hopefully these will do.

I’d love to hear any and all opinions! Any concerns, obvious leakage or other issues I’m missing?

Usually I wait for the experts to weigh in, but I love it. It's sweet and light and bright in the middle, and this just has me. Someone else may find something not to love but I can't.
How do YOU feel about it? That's what matters.

looks great to me how does it look to you?
